Briarcliffe Cottage in Cumbria is a well-received holiday rental, praised for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and well-equipped nature. Guests appreciate the multiple bathrooms, Wi-Fi, and the property's location for exploring the Lake District. The garden and outdoor seating are also highlights. Some guests suggest updates to the sofas and cutlery, and note the presence of a loud cockerel. Overall, the cottage offers a comfortable and convenient base for a family holiday.
The cottage is consistently described as clean and spotless, indicating high standards of cleanliness. Only one mention of the kitchen needing better cleaning prevents a perfect score.
The location is praised for its proximity to local attractions and the peaceful village setting. However, some guests noted the lack of nearby shops and the need for a car, slightly lowering the score.
Guests find the cottage comfortable, with ample space and good facilities. However, several reviews mention that the sofas and beds could be more comfortable, which affects the score.
The property is well-equipped with en-suite bathrooms, TVs, and a kitchen with gadgets. Points are deducted for mentions of worn furniture, a non-functional barbecue, and the desire for better cutlery and glassware.
While guests appreciate the amenities provided, there are no specific mentions of gifts or extra thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category.
A fabulous, stone-built, semi-detached cottage, quietly nestling in the traditional Lakeland village of Lindale, on the scenic and largely undiscovered Lakeland Peninsula. Lovingly renovated in 2007 to provide a superb blend of original character with contemporary style, Briarcliffe Cottage is spacious and stylish throughout, boasting an open fire, two lavish en-suite bathrooms with underfloor heating and a charming summer room leading to an attractive courtyard garden. There are many pleasant walks from the doorstep, whilst Lindale's quaint, narrow streets are home to traditional dwellings, a shop and welcoming old pubs. Cartmel, the coastal resorts of Arnside and Grange-over-Sands and mystical Lake Windermere are all well worth a visit. An idyllic holiday retreat.
Just a short drive away is Lake Windermere and the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead - which still retain the charm and character that has endeared them to so many. Set amidst the charm of the southern lakes this attractive village makes an inspiring choice from which to enjoy the whole of a magical area.

Nice decor. Very clean with nice comfy beds and bedding. The showers were good. Good location although there isnt anything in the village. We did have a problem and Gary was very quick to get back to us. Now the negatives. Which I have left feedback for the owner. Some of the dinner plates were chipped which I find unacceptable and as there were only six large plates ( which I don't feel is enough} we had no choice but to use them There was only five wine glasses. The cutlery although plentiful was of poor quality. The settees although comfy were not adequate for six adult friends and there could be more seating. We noticed in the guest book someone had written there was no tin opener and there still wasn't one.

This was our second year booking and I will definitely be booking again. Beautiful home with great amenities. Great size, plenty of room and beautiful garden. Lots of fun and made great memories for my children. I look forward to visiting again. Leanne

It was ideally located for the South Lakes and provided a great base to live in and travel around from. The property had three good sized bedrooms with each having it's own bathroom facilities. We used the side sun lounge for breakfast and the main lounge on an evening. As it was a great week for weather we also made full use of the outside space late afternoons. The village doesn't have any shops, and the one pub is a good workout to reach, but worthwhile for meals and a drink. If we came back to the area we would look to stop again.
