Further from the property you will find the fantastic Lake Windermere with two beautiful towns located at the water's edge, including Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside. All have lovely independent stores and eateries, as well as ample opportunities for watersports activities, walks in the scenery and lake cruises. For a day at the coast, head over to Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or even head into the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Both Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall with its superb Topiary Garden are nearby, as are limestone escarpments for easy walking, offering thrilling views of the Lakeland Mountains, the Howgills and Morecambe Bay. Kendal itself is ideally placed for exploring South Lakeland, the Yorkshire Dales and beyond.
