Its old cobbled lanes and byways branch off the attractive main street, and the stone ruins of 12th century Kendal Castle sit perched on a hill with views over the town. Visit The Abbot Hall Art Gallery, its regular collection holding portraits by Kendal born George Romney and works by Turner and Ruskin, with other exhibitions through its links with the Tate. Both Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall with its superb Topiary Garden are nearby, as are limestone escarpments for easy walking, offering thrilling views of the Lakeland Mountains, the Howgills and Morecambe Bay. Easy to access with an adjacent parking space. Comfortable beds, although the two double rooms were very small. Well equipped kitchen except for not having a microwave (there was one in the car port so think it may have recently broken). Quite small living area and eating space for 6 people. It would be more suitable as a property for four people. Our main problem was the lack of information provided - no house folder or any instructions about recycling, WiFi etc. Also, not enough toilet rolls!
Geoffrey
beautifully and immaculately presented throughout ideally situated in the centre of Kendal no need for a car as bus and train stations close by.

Whether a central base of operations for touring the Lakes or like us a base to visit friends it serves its job well providing a convenient place to go home to. The house is unbelievably silent considering what you would think would be a noisy commercial area, however it was spot on, already recommended to friends and family and look forward to visiting again
