Visit England 3 Star.. With glorious views of the Coniston Hills and local fell ranges, Hayrake is in an ideal location, on the fringes of the village with all amenities close to hand. Built of Lakeland stone, the cottage is very characterful, with cosy rooms, exposed beams and that all important open fire, Hayrake is also home to other features that you’d expect from such an old property, including the odd squeaky floorboard and uneven floor! Emphasis is more on creating a homely atmosphere than frills and fanciness, however Hayrake is very comfortable and offers everything for the holidaymaker. On three floors, the views get better the higher you go so you may have to toss a coin to decide who will have the top room.

Excellent value for our short 4-night break. The rear extension gave fabulous panoramic views across the mountains with great views from the top floor bedroom (but watch the beams! 🙂). Easy walk to all shops, restaurants and pubs etc. everything worked and the garden was a little bigger than we thought. All round great value in a quiet location just far enough off the main streets. Once down in the town there is a little gem of a garden by the church with lots of seating too. WiFi worked really well.

Hayrake is a super holiday cottage, with plenty of space for our five family members. The four bedrooms were ideal for us and the extra toilet on the top floor was much appreciated. The lounge is very comfortable and the dining room is bright with views over the fells. The kitchen is large and very well equipped and the patio is a real suntrap. It's a five minute walk into Ambleside, a bit longer if you go the other way to Waterhead (a steep walk coming back!) and a great location for exploring Langdale, Coniston etc.
