This beautiful detached house is set in mature gardens and lies just 2 miles from Ambleside, making it an ideal escape to explore the South Lakes. Situated on the lower slopes of Loughrigg Fell, this picturesque holiday cottage is ideal for couples and families looking for a spacious retreat. The ground floor is bright and spacious thanks to the large windows and open plan layout. The living/dining room has a cosy wood burner and is an ideal space for relaxing in front of the Smart TV. The kitchen is well-equipped. You will also find a large utility room with a washer/dryer. The utility room can be accessed from the patio. Also on the ground floor there is a bathroom with bath and shower over, along with a spacious twin room with quality furnishings. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, one with a super kingsize bed, the other with twin beds. There is also a shower room and toilet upstairs. All the beds have luxury matteresses for that perfect night sleep. To the side of the property there is a lovely patio with garden furniture and stunning views - this area is a real suntrap.
If you like walking or cycling there are some lovely routes around Loughrigg Tarn, Todd Cragg and Elterwater. Or, if you like more of a challenge, you can try the Langdale Pikes and the Fairfield Horseshoe. Locally there is a pub and hotel which provides great food and locally produced ales. For lake lovers, you are only 2½ miles from Lake Windermere with the famous steamers offering pleasure trips to Bowness and lakeside on a regular timetable. For the big kids in the family, you’re not too far from Go Ape at Grizedale Forest, a high rope adventure course for thrillseekers. The towns of Ambleside, Bowness and Windermere are all easily accessible and offer an abundance of restaurants, shops and bars. Sheilings is a very well equipped, cosy home where we felt welcomed. It is close to all amenities & great walks from the doorstep. It was nicely decorated for Christmas. We would highly recommend / stay again.

This cottage was beautiful! We went in autumn and it really hit home the beauty of the area. The house was spotles when we arrived, there was hoover, mop etc to clean up and the heating was as easy to use and worked very well. The beds were comfortable and warm and so were the sofas. If this cottage is still here in the future, we will definitely be returning! Just one little thing. Ive arriving in the dark its abit hard to see the drive and the stairs leading up to the house. Although if you have a flashlight on your phone then it shouldnt be too much to worry about. Again, a lovely place to stay with stunning views!

my family and i really enjoyed our stay at the cottage.it was so quiet and peaceful yet close to all the amenities that you need. central heating was the easiest to control i have come across in the many cottages i have stayed in NO owner pre-set s to override.the hoover broke down on the monday and after reporting it to cottages.com the owner,linda, contacted me to give a personal apology and said a new hoover would be delivered by amazon that week.that was a first class service.one very slight niggle is that there were lots of blue ray dvds but no blue ray player.parking is a bit tight but we found out that you can use a turning circle at the top of the slope to make it easier.we look forward to making a return to the cottage.
