The facilities, including a well-equipped kitchen, games room, and outdoor amenities, are highly regarded. Maintenance appears prompt, with only a minor note on recycling facilities affecting the score.
While the reviews are positive and mention various amenities, there is no specific mention of gifts or extra thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, so this category cannot be scored.
This impressive, detached single-storey property stands in a delightfully private location with panoramic views of Ullswater. Formerly two Lakeland barns which were converted and extended in 1991, Low House is now a fabulous holiday home for an extended family or a number of couples wishing to come together and enjoy a break amidst the most beautiful surroundings of the Lake District. Upon entering you are welcomed into the hallway which leads off into the spacious sitting room, featuring a woodburning stove and an arrangement of seating for when you return after a day of fell walking. Continue into the well-equipped kitchen benefitting from all the necessities you will require to rustle up an evening meal, including a four-door electric cooker, before serving it in large dining room. The younger members of the group will love the playroom, complete with table football and a TV, providing hours of entertainment on a rainy day. As the evening draws to a close, there are four tastefully presented bedrooms to choose from, each one benefitting from en-suite facilities. The master bedroom has a six-foot-wide, French style sleigh bed and enjoys lake views, while the other bedrooms features win beds, offering accommodation for up to eight guests. Step outside and enjoy a summer’s evening on the sunny garden terrace, complete with table and chairs and providing the perfect spot to enjoy alfresco dining. To the rear of the house is a separate former barn that is lockable providing useful storage for bikes, while entertainment can be found in table tennis and a dart board. A track across an adjoining field leads to the private lakeshore frontage with a jetty, from where small boats and canoes can be launched. Stroll along the shoreline of Ullswater to reach the popular village of Pooley Bridge where you can browse a selection of independent shops and stop and unwind in one of the quaint tearooms. Take yourself further afield to the historic market town of Penrith and take advantage of the amenities on offer, including an indoor heated swimming pool, golf course and driving range. Whatever you choose to do, return to Low House and enjoy a peaceful evening with your nearest and dearest.
The bustling market town of Penrith, once the capital of Cumbria, enjoys a central position between the Lake District and North Pennines and is ideally placed for taking in all that the region has to offer. Renowned for its wealth of specialist shops, the sandstone buildings of Penrith hide intriguing yards, lanes and alleyways, with a myriad of attractive cottages, gardens and little shops. With a wide choice of excellent pubs, hotels, restaurants and entertainment, Penrith also offers a museum, and Millennium Trails round the historic city streets. Within easy reach of the town is Rheged – an innovative visitor centre with shops, restaurants, exhibitions and a giant cinema screen showing educational and informative films. Brougham Castle (The Windsor of the North), Long Meg and her daughters (the 3rd largest stone circle in England) and the historic city of Carlisle are all a short drive away, as is the stunning scenery of both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.

The grandchildren enjoyed the garden and the beach as well as the bar football and table tennis. Low House is very well-equipped with plenty of space, an outside patio with a beautiful view of the lake and the hills behind, and an enclosed garden. There are many lovely local walks to suit all ages. The children's favourite day was a trip to Aira Force (the open top bus ride was an additional plus factor). We love it!

Beautiful property but only slight negative is that when driving out of the property it is on a blind bend and dangerous, we noticed lots of properties have mirrors opposite and this would be a real benefit if restrictions permit as there will be an accident at some point if any bike or car comes round the bend at speed
Kristian
Having an access path to the lake and beautiful lake views were a big plus which we particularly enjoyed. The kitchen was really well equipped, it had everything we needed.
