About this property

Nestled in the quaint, Cumbrian village of Watermillock rests this excellent, newly converted barn property, The Bay Tree. Enjoying good positioning to nearby amenities, as well as gorgeous lake and countryside views, this fabulous holiday stay is ideal for families or a group of sharing friends seeking a rural escape to the heart of the Lake District. After you’ve parked up and unpacked, make the most of your new lodgings by setting up in the tastefully-laid out, open-plan living area, where a well-equipped kitchen offers everything the designated chef will need to rustle up delicious, home-cooked meals to be savoured at the breakfast bar, the dining table, or in the plush sitting room, which comes complete with a wall-mounted Smart TV and crackling woodburning stove. In the evening, take a glass of your favourite beverage out into the front garden to soak in views of your surroundings, before treating yourself to a refreshing shower on your way to catch a restorative, well-earned slumber in one of four inviting bedrooms. Bring your loved ones for a memorable escape to The Bay Tree.

The elevated, dispersed settlement of Watermillock, which is primarily a farming community, is located alongside Ullswater Lake and runs parallel to the main road. Pooley Bridge, which is located in the Lake District National Park on the northern coast of the lake and has a variety of services, is only 2.5 miles away. The formation of a sizable pool created by the swiftly flowing River Eamont is where the name Pooley first appeared. Pooley Bridge is home to a variety of quaint inns and alluring tea houses. Moreover, the Ullswater Steamers sail from here, from where you may take a relaxing voyage to the settlements of Glenridding and Howtown. Glenridding, which translates to "glen overrun with bracken," is a small tourist community with a variety of independent stores, cafes, and eateries. The cities of Penrith and Keswick are accessible by car, and the area is home to several walks with beautiful vistas. A short stroll up Dunmallard Hill also shows remarkable Iron-Age ruins. An excellent starting point for a cottage trip in the breathtaking Lake District is Watermillock.

! It was lovely and clean when we arrived exactly how it is like on the photos and description. The location was great too. I don’t have a bad word for this and will 100% be returning again it was a great weekend!!

Spacious, well equipped and nicely decorated. I hadn’t appreciated that it was within the holiday park. This however wasn’t an issue. There was very little noise and we had use of the play park, shop, cafe if wanted. There is also use of the near by marina which was perfect for paddle boarding from! We’ll definitely be back!
