Meadowcroft No 4 is a spacious and well-appointed cottage in Windermere, praised for its peaceful location, beautiful surroundings, and comfortable interiors. Guests appreciate the ample space, en-suite bedrooms, and well-equipped kitchen, making it ideal for families and groups. The property is close to local attractions yet offers tranquillity. While most found the accommodation clean and inviting, a few noted occasional lapses in cleanliness and maintenance. Overall, the cottage provides an excellent base for exploring the Lake District, with many guests eager to return.
Most guests found the property clean and tidy, with several describing it as spotless. However, a minority reported issues such as stained bedding, cobwebs, dust, and a dirty oven. These concerns were not universal but were mentioned enough to affect the overall impression.
The location is highly praised for its peaceful setting, proximity to Bowness and Windermere, and beautiful views. Guests enjoyed the balance of tranquillity and accessibility to local attractions, with only minor concerns about walking into town at night due to lack of footpaths.
Guests consistently highlighted the spaciousness, comfortable beds and sofas, and the benefit of en-suite bedrooms. A few mentioned issues with heating being difficult to control and one noted a hard mattress, but overall comfort levels were rated very highly.
The cottage is well-equipped with kitchenware, en-suite bathrooms, and good Wi-Fi. Some guests noted missing items like kitchen roll or issues with maintenance (e.g., loose shower doors, stained communal areas, scaffolding, and early checkout time), but these did not detract significantly from the overall experience.
There were no specific mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so a score cannot be given for this category.

A car ferry runs to the far side of the lake taking visitors to Sawrey and Hawkshead, or you can take a trip on one of the steamers north to Ambleside or south to Lakeside. There is plenty to see and do including the Beatrix Potter Exhibition and Steamboat Museum, as well as an 18 hole ‘pitch and putt’ and sailing marinas. Meadowcroft 4 is a lovely 3 bed apartment! Extremely well equipped and very high quality furniture and fittings. High cleanliness throughout. The location is easy to find, being on the main road. East access to all the main sightseeing and other venues for whole Lake District area. Car parking is very good as is security. Telephone signal O2 is not brilliant but the wifi system is excellent! Main LG tv in the main lounge needs maintenance as the screen is all blue for much of the time- think it needs replaced. Main criticism is the 9am checkout requirement on the final day- which is too early, especially as the check in is 3pm. 10am would be more reasonable

A large 3 bed apartment all en suite was great. All amenities present. The building communal entrance let it down, i believe some painting work had been done and carpets not cleaned, it was not a great first impression but the actual apartment once inside was very good.It was let down again by some scaffolding outside which hindered one of the rooms window view but not owners fault Great garden area for the kids, they loved itnb there is a back path to the marina to avoid the busy road where there is no path
