Guests generally enjoyed the beautiful setting and spaciousness of The Old Rectory and Coach House, appreciating its comfort and the grounds for family gatherings. The housekeeper received praise for being helpful and responsive.
While many guests found the property clean and tidy, there were notable concerns about kitchen cleanliness, garden upkeep, and overall maintenance. These issues were not widespread but did impact the experiences of some visitors.
The location is consistently praised for its fantastic setting and convenience for family holidays, with guests enjoying the vast grounds and the property's proximity to local attractions.
The property is frequently described as comfortable, with special mentions of comfortable beds and a warm atmosphere. However, some guests noted issues with heating upon arrival and draftiness.
Facilities like the tennis court and football pitch were appreciated but some were disappointed with their maintenance. The house is well-equipped for large groups, though some fixtures require attention.
There is insufficient information to score thoughtfulness as there are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches provided by the host, aside from a welcome hamper which is a standard offering and not indicative of extra thoughtfulness.
The Old Rectory stands in its own parkland near North Tuddenham. The poet William Cowper stayed in the original rectory, but the present building dates from 1852. With the Coach House next door, it accommodates up to 20 guests.
The Old Rectory and the Coach House are self catering holiday cottages which stand in their own parkland next to the church surrounded by open countryside, a mile from North Tuddenham in Norfolk. The original rectory dated from the 16th century and the poet William Cowper stayed here when he first came to Norfolk. It was replaced in 1852 by Rev Barry, younger brother of the architect of the Houses of Parliament, who designed it himself. The holiday home has been refurbished to provide a luxury self catering venue for family gatherings. It is easily accessed from the A47, half a mile away.
The Old Rectory is set in idyllic surroundings with grounds covering 12.5 acres. There are large areas of lawn interspersed with mature shrubs and trees. The grounds also include a west facing terrace, ideal for summer barbecues, a pond (this has been fenced making it childproof), and a children's football area with two goals. The Old Rectory is an ideal outdoor holiday break with its own wood: a pathway marked by an avenue of yew trees which leads to clearings planted with bluebells, foxgloves and primroses and ideal picnic spots. The Coach House is situated in a courtyard through original 10' high wrought iron gates next to The Old Rectory, sleeping fourteen on its own.

it was winter and it was cold. The heating was only just able to keep off the chill in the main house, although the outbuildings were cosy. The fire wood was much appreciated, but it kept only one room warm. The welcome pack was generous, and the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable.

A great house for our large family celebration. Well equipped and very clean. We were grateful for the large supply of firewood as we needed to light the fire in the evenings as the house became quite drafty and chilly as the temperature dropped. Itâs a shame that the fireplace in the dining room was not in use - we would have liked to have stayed in there longer after dinner but it was just too chilly. Iâm glad the weather was quite mild while we were there!
