Set in the heart of a 1200-acre farming and shooting estate in a beautiful north Norfolk valley, The West Wing offers a beautiful, secluded location in which to holiday, celebrate or entertain.

Sedgeford Hall, built of local sand-coloured brick was built in the reign of Queen Anne, and completed in 1713, with further additions throughout the centuries; it now includes a heated indoor swimming pool, open fires and wood-burning stoves for the colder winter months, beautiful enclosed gardens and numerous Estate walks, with lakes, woods and parkland to explore.

Sedgeford is just a few miles from the coast and close to splendid towns and villages such as Burnham Market and Brancaster, and several stately homes with lovely places to walk - Houghton Hall, Holkham Hall and The Sandringham Estate; the Queen’s Christmas residence.

Just 5 miles to the north is the seaside town of Hunstanton with miles of sandy beaches and rock pools, majestic cliffs, a Sea Life Centre, amusemens, watersports, tennis, croquet, bowls, golf, shops, restaurants and inns. Heacham, 3 miles, has the benefit of Norfolk Lavender with garden centre, shops, café and farm shop. For children, there is the popular ‘Farmer Fred’s Play Barn’ a large indoor play centre with café and an animal petting zoo! Great Bircham is a 4-mile walk, and the Peddars Way and Icknield Way are also close by. Locally there is shooting, fishing, bird watching and golf as well as many stunning beaches along the North Norfolk coast. Shop 4 miles, pub serving food ½ mile

Great house for a family get together. Swimming pool was lovely and very warm, although the time slots were not always suitable due to being out most days. The facilities and the grounds were great. Very peaceful location. Welcome pack was great

Accommodation was very comfortable. We had a really good time. The swimming pool was excellent and easy to access. We booked a few extra sessions at a very reasonable rate. The West Wing is next to the pool but we didn’t hear any other users. Communication with the owners was good and pro-active. The estate is very private and there are lots of grounds to access. We visited Sandringham, Holkham Beach, Norfolk Lavender, Burnham Market and Fakenham which were all good. Hunstanton was not to our taste! Some small niggles about the property. Broadband was very slow and often stopped altogether. The electric cooker and sink in the kitchen were showing their age. There was some noise from guests in the Hall which is connected to the West Wing.

My abiding memory of the holiday was the teenage boys running from room to room whooping for joy and choosing their own room. There were 10 of us including a 5 Year old, but no one got in the way of another as the house was so big. The kitchen table was huge and easily accommodated everyone at mealtimes. The accommodation was luxurious and obviously a lot of thought was put into the design, cleanliness and quantity of equipment (kitchen).I booked it mainly for the onsite swimming pool which was fabulous, the time slots being generous and the pool being so clean and well maintained. The kitchen equipment included a couple of cafetieres, which I thought might be the case, so I brought my own coffee pod machine for that morning brew.It could be a nice touch for the kitchen to have a nespresso/L'or pod machine. Thanks for a great holiday. We loved watching the lambs being born in the adjoining field.
