Offering parking, which is something of a novelty in Wells-next-the-Sea, guests may well be tempted to park their car up and stay within the town for the full duration of their stay. Popular with locals and tourists alike, this pretty little coastal town offers a beautiful quay, which lies just opposite Crow’s Nest, a mix of traditional seaside shops and artisan boutiques, great places to eat, potter, shop and more. There’s a narrow gauge railway that runs past the pitch and putt golf course down to the pine woods and wide sandy beach with its candy-coloured beach huts. From the quay itself, there are boat trips to fish or see the seals, and you may also see people “gillying”, the local term for catching crabs by hand line. The harbour is also home to Wells’ water ski club, sailing club and various other nautical pursuits. For a change of pace, hop in your car and head to Hunstanton, known by the locals as “Sunny Hunny”, but make sure you allow the time to explore the pretty coastal villages along the way. There are breathtaking marshes and pristine beaches scattered along the coastline that must be seen to be believed.
History buffs will be spoilt for choice with the medieval city of Norwich, with its fine Norman Castle, the Hanseatic Old Quarter of Kings Lynn, Royal Sandringham, Holkham Hall and the Blickling Estate all within easy reach. Equally, lovers of nature and birds will find a wide range of habitats from which to view the local wildlife. After a day’s sightseeing, you can retire to the sun room or the garden at Crow’s Nest and raise a glass to adventures yet to be had. The owners live nearby, so help is always at hand. Found property to be cleaned to a very poor standard and not something that could be rectified whilst occupied. Also bathrooms were in urgent need of maintenance and replacement.Photos forwarded to owners via Cottages.com but owners had an astonishing attitude and seemed to be in denial.Due to this reluctantly felt an honest an accurate review needed to posted.Any people considering booking the Crows Nest should seek assurances that the property has had a major overhaul and deep clean

Just back from a lovely, relaxing weeks break in Wells staying at Crows Nest. It was just my husband and our two spaniels staying, but we wanted somewhere central, with parking and a secure garden - the cinema room was an additional bonus in case of any rainy weather - which, predictably, we had. The garden was perfect for hosing the dogs down to get the salty sea and sand off. We took lots of little drives to nearby wooded areas where the dogs could safely walk off lead, as well as visits to lots of sandy beaches around the area - although the latter was dependent on tide times and weather, plus a few trips to farm shops. The kitchen was a dream to use - very well appointed! Bakery is a short walk away from Crows Nest, and it was lovely to have fresh bread/pastry first thing. Pubs, fish and chips, pizza (possibly the best I've ever had!), butcher and local shop also a short walk away.Very quiet in the area even with Crows Nest being so centrally located; so good night's sleeps were had from all.Crows Nest is in a slightly elevated position so it was also fabulous watching the weather come in as well as the sunsets.
