You are never too far from anywhere with excellent walks and cycling opportunities on doorstep. Whitwell and Reepham Railway station nestled alongside The Marriott’s Way, an excellent place for walking and cycling along miles of original track-bed (now known as Marriott’s Way after an engineer who built the line). The railway station, now restored to its former glory, also has a café for a cuppa and slice of cake. Explore the museum and station, and then relax with a refreshing drink in the pretty gardens. At weekends, ride up and down the tracks on one of the trains.
For golfers, the Royal Norwich Golf Course is 6 minutes’ drive with an 18-hole course and a 6-hole academy course. Facilities include short game area, practice bunkers, extensive practice putting green and range facilities. The on-site restaurant, bar and eatery offers breakfast through to fine dining opportunities.
Three delights of Norfolk all 30 minutes’ drive are the stunning north Norfolk coastline, famous Norfolk Broads National Park and the fine city of Norwich. I had so much hope for our 4 night stay first impression looked okay but then you start to notice that the property is not maintained at all and the cleanliness is very poor shower was dirty shower curtain. Also I read on a previous review about thick dust behind the bath which is still there as review is only four months old a lot of mould in the bathroom. My sheets were dirty on my bed and the curtain in the hallway a previous dog had done a wee up it and was still there stained and smelly hot tub had a slimy film round the top and wasn’t checked once throughout our stay if they maintained better standards it could be a lovely little place but sadly I won’t be returning.

We stayed for 7 nights and I was uncertain about what we would find after seeing other reviews. It was exceptionally clean, the shower wasn’t as described and it seems like brand new carpet has been laid. The property itself was very well stocked in the kitchen and plenty of seating. The property itself can’t be faulted in this regard. There are some negatives which would stop me from rebooking . The first is the size of the “small double”. It was awful. Myself and my partner did not fit well and sleeping was a nightmare. At best it suits one adult or two very small children. The other sleeping area - the sofa bed. Again insanely uncomfortable. There is only one tv which is in the main sitting area so when the person sleeping in there wants to go to bed you can’t go to a room to watch anything. Only one fan provided during a heat wave and those rooms get exceptionally hot ! You can’t leave the window open because it will fill the room with bugs. It’s a beautiful nature area so that is to be expected. The hot tub isn’t treated daily or checked but when I raised an issue with the water smelling bad it was sorted first thing the next morning . Not a complaint as such but it would help to have them checked to ensure the right levels are safe. Overall the property was lovely. The location is about 40 mins from the closest beach which is misleading from the description. There are no takeouts close by or supermarkets closer than around a 20 min drive. For the price we paid I wouldn’t go back as I would prefer to be closer to the beach but for a get away to do nothing it’s the perfect place.
