This delightful semi-detached cottage sits in the small village of Butterknowle. Set between the pretty market towns of Bishop Auckland and Barnard Castle, is the sleepy little village of Butterknowle. Beautiful walking country is right on the doorstep, with the North Pennines easily discovered just a few miles away, whilst an array of interesting towns and a wealth of historic attractions can all be enjoyed within an easy drive.

The cottage was nicely decorated, clean, well equipped and the small welcome pack was appreciated (coffee, tea and sugar were also provided). Although part of a farm, there was hardly any noise during the day and it was very peaceful in the evening. Large supermarkets and retail park within 12-15 minutes drive in West Auckland and the same time to drive to the beautiful Barnard castle with a good range of independent restaurants, cafes and shops (including a range of antique shops). We would deffinatly look at booking again when back in the area.

The cottage had almost everything needed for a short stay with the exception of a hair drier - my wife really missed that. Otherwise, it had everything. The welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, wine and biscuits were much appreciated. It was warm and cosy. There was plenty to do in the local area and we didn't have to travel more than 40 minutes to any of our places of interest. I would highly recommend this property.
