This handsome stone building was at the heart of the village’s Christon Bank’s transformation from a farming hamlet to a busy village when the East Coast Main Line opened in the mid-1800s. Less than 120 years later the station closed, however, the property continues to welcome visitors with skilfully updated and insulated interiors that will comfortably accommodate your party. You’ll find local amenities at Embleton, 1.5 miles away, with Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Course and the golden sands of Embleton Bay just beyond. Take a tour of the castle ruins at the southern end of the beach, or head north where the coast path passes Newton Point to Football Hole Beach − a small but beautiful bay where seals, seabirds and dolphins are often seen. Further on, Beadnell Bay (7 miles) is popular for sailing, sea kayaking, windsurfing and scuba diving.
The platforms may have gone, but this striking holiday home features many reminders of its railway heritage, including the large signage that announces your arrival. Leave coats and shoes in the porch and enter the spacious lounge, boasting a choice of comfortable seating arranged before a large Smart TV. A selection of books and games add more entertainment options and bay windows allow a lovely flow of natural light into the space. From here, a door leads into a long conservatory – originally the station platform – with further seating. The chic kitchen/diner can be accessed directly from both the conservatory and the main hallway. Contemporary styling and all the must-haves of home make this a comfortable space in which to cook, keep up with your favourite TV shows, dine and discuss your day. The adjacent utility room ensures added convenience during your stay, and there’s a ground-floor shower room conveniently located off the main hallway, too. Upstairs, you’ll find a family bathroom and three bedrooms. Choose from a twin bedroom with an en-suite shower room, or two king-size bedrooms, each with a Freeview TV.
There is off-road parking for two cars in front of the property.
