Guests say

The Hemmel is a beautifully presented and spacious cottage, praised for its peaceful rural setting and excellent access to Northumberland’s coast and attractions. Guests consistently highlight its cleanliness, well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and relaxing atmosphere. The property is ideal for walkers and those seeking tranquillity, with ample parking and dog-friendly features. While the heating system and instructions could be improved, and a car is recommended due to its remote location, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, making it a popular choice for families, wedding guests, and holidaymakers alike.

Cleanliness is frequently praised, with multiple guests describing the cottage as spotless, very clean, and well maintained—even noting that it was immaculate despite being dog-friendly. No significant negative comments were made about cleanliness.

The location is highly rated for its peacefulness and proximity to beaches, coastal walks, and local attractions. Guests appreciate the rural setting and easy access by car, though some note the need for a vehicle due to its remoteness.

Guests consistently mention comfortable beds, cosy living spaces, and a relaxing atmosphere. The log burner adds to the comfort, especially in colder months. A few guests found the heating insufficient during cold weather, but overall comfort remains a strong point.

The cottage is described as well equipped, especially the kitchen, with ample parking and outdoor spaces. Some minor issues with heating controls and a request for more towels were noted, but maintenance and responsiveness were generally good.

There are no mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches such as hampers or treats in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.
