Guests say

The Haining is a highly praised cottage, celebrated for its tranquil and picturesque setting, offering stunning views and an abundance of wildlife. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches, including welcome packs for both humans and dogs, and the property's cleanliness and comfort. Its remote location provides a peaceful retreat with local amenities and attractions within easy reach. The spacious garden and cosy fires add to the charm, making it a favoured choice for a relaxing Northumbrian break.

Guests consistently note the property's immaculate condition, highlighting its cleanliness and well-maintained appearance. The provision of good bedding and the overall tidiness contribute to the high score.

The cottage's remote and quiet location is frequently commended for its beauty and proximity to local towns, historical sites, and natural landscapes, including Kielder Forest and the coast.

Reviews indicate a high level of comfort, with praise for the excellent showers, comfy beds, and homely feel. However, a suggestion for a topper for the sofa bed indicates a slight room for improvement in sleeping comfort.

The property is well-equipped with modern conveniences and generous welcome packs. Some reviews suggest room for improvement in kitchen facilities and mention a temporary issue with the septic tank, which slightly lowers the score.

The thoughtful gestures, such as welcome packs for guests and pets, are frequently mentioned and appreciated. While these gifts are warmly received, it is politely noted that such offerings are subject to change and not guaranteed.

We have stayed her on two previous occasions and our third stay did not disappoint, the kitchen has been updated and now boasts a small dishwasher together with a more conventional sink. Two Christmas Trees made for a Festive welcome and we were greeted by the warm and friendly custodians of this exceptional property which they maintain in immaculate condition on behalf of NWT. We enjoyed the wildlife from the front door and explored the local area and stunning landscapes. National Trust properties with seasonal decorations were a highlight. Warm and comfortable property!

They were incredibly welcoming from the moment we arrived, when our car got stuck in the ice they didnt hesitate to help us out and even gave us a lift to the pub! Their kindnes and generosity made the stay truly special, a lovely peaceful weekend and a comfy environment to sit back and relax in. Definitely recommend!
