What our customers say about their holidays

Everything was clean and ready for us to use.
Didn't meet the owner just their daughter-in-law (& her lovely 2 girls!) and she was a darling, very helpful & sweet. Wonderful, cozy & quirky cottage attached to the farmhouse but with your own privacy. Nicely styled bedrooms, very different but all with super comfortable beds and lots of storage. Kitchen well equipped & we had a lovely welcome pack of milk, chocolate cake & white wine waiting for us. Wonderfully comfortable and cozy living room to lounge in after dinner with a book or a game. The hot tub was awesome, very large and with beautiful lights both inside the water & also over the heads on the wooden roof. We used it every evening & it was nice to soak in the hot water with the jets on while it was raining outside! One night the moon came out while we were in, that was unbelievable! I would highly recommend Isaacs cottage if you want peace, quiet & a bit off the beaten track. The scenery all around is breathtakingly beautiful, and tons of day trips await. To the near there are Allenheads, Allendale, which are both lovely! Stanhope was nice & isnt too far. Hexham, Durham, Corbridge (oh, don't miss Corbridge!! Wonderful little village with cafés, shops, church, great afternoon out!!), also Hadrian's wall only 30 min. away by car (various sites, if you have time try 2 or 3, they are all a bit different!) or villages up the coast are also doable. We went to Alnwick, lovely drive about 90 min. (if you dont take the A1 but go cross country you'll be amazed at how beautiful the countryside is!! Many photo spots await you there.). We took walks in the National park to the North, but there are walks really pretty from basically just up the road from the house as well!! We were very happy with the place and felt right at home when we arrived. There wasn't a thing we didn't like! Would love to return! What a wonderful week spent in this wonderful place! Just mind you, it's remote, and the farm track is a little bumpy in places, so drive carefully & don't bring your Porsche. ;-)

We booked Mill House but unfortunately storms meant we couldnât stay there at the last minute.
However the owner was able to put us in another property Shepherdâs House which was incredible! We couldnât speak highly enough of the owner for moving us when we thought we would be having a cancellation. The property was outstanding! Better than the photos even, and the photos are great! We had a welcome hamper of essentials on arrival, spotlessly clean, such a well looked after, spacious, modern property that suited our 2 young families plus grandparents! It was really really nice! The bedrooms were really big, fitting a family of four in one of them on one side of the house! The pool table was great for our older children! The kitchen lounge space was amazing, with lovely rural views, huge windows letting in natural light, a lovely space to cook, chat and sit together! The extras details were lovely (eg) christmas trees and lights! It was very rural but there was everything close by we wanted to see; Bamburgh, Holy Island plus plenty of places to eat locally too. We had an excellent time there and couldnât speak highly enough of the owners and their communication, and the property itself! So although the review isnât directly about Mill House both houses were owned by the same person so Iâm sure the other property would have been of the same high standard. Thank you for a memorable stay! It really was a beautiful property!

Great house in a very quiet location.
Plenty of hot water and super king size beds, The latter is a real bonus as so many holiday properties have standard doubles and/or uncomfortable beds. Facilities within the house are generally excellent but I havenât given full marks as there was a dripping tap in the kitchen and small leak from a heated towel rail in one bedroom. The owner said their plumber was away which is why they hadnât been fixed so I assume these issues have now been sorted. Other two issues were a lack of medium and small cooking trays/oven dishes and the fact that the water was brown which we assumed was because it came from a well. The water was drinkable but we ended up buying filtered water for drinking (though did use house water in the kettle and for cooking). The owner did leave a couple of bottles of water as they realised some people may find the brown colour unpalatable. But none of the issues listed would put us off going again. It really is a great place to stay - and the location is handy for lots of local attractions. The village is excellent with two pubs and a brilliant village shop selling local produce. Would throughly recommend this house.

Had an absolutely lovely long weekend with friends at Rosedale House.
The property was perfect for the needs of our group and felt like a proper 'home from home' - a warm and welcoming space where we could all relax together in the evening after days out exploring the coast. The location is perfect - just a short stroll across the green, down to the sea or 5 minutes walk into the town centre. The rooms and communal spaces are comfortable and the kitchen is very well-stocked with utensils and crockery - plenty of space for cooking dinner for five. We would definitely rent this property again. The only reason we haven't given it 5 stars is because the lighting in the kitchen is a little bit too dim and that made it difficult to see when cooking. Unfortunately the light in the over-hob extractor also wasn't working. I'm sure this is less of a problem in the summer when there's plenty of natural light but in winter we were mainly cooking after dark, so a bit of extra wattage would have been very useful! I've said 'no' to publishing the feedback, mainly because I didn't want our complaint about the kitchen lighting to be published. It was a minor issue in what was otherwise a really great stay.

We love Rosedale House and this was our third stay.
However on the previous two occasions under the original management company the property has been spotless on our arrival and this time it was not. We do not believe many of the horizontal surfaces had seen a duster in weeks. There was only one "soiled" tea towel (we had taken our own) and an oven glove had dried on food. The frying pan should be replaced as it was dirty and we were unable to clean it satisfactorily There were only 5 dinner plates for 6 people! We took our own but there were no dishwasher tablets, just an empty box, and a couple of washing machine tablets would also have been welcome as would a better scourer and sponge. Scissors would be a useful addition to the utensils too and we could not find a broom. The top bathroom toilet seat requires attention.
