Treetops is a well-received holiday cottage in West Thirston/Felton, Northumberland, praised for its spaciousness, stunning location, and range of amenities including a hot tub and games room. The local village charms with excellent pubs and cafes, enhancing the stay. While some guests encountered cleanliness and maintenance issues, the property generally offers a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Reviews are mixed regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the property to be tidy and well-kept, while others reported dust, dirt, and maintenance issues. The cleaning service has been criticised, but there were also instances of prompt action and apologies when issues were raised.
The location is consistently praised for its beauty and convenience, with easy access to local amenities such as a pub and bakery. The village of Felton is appreciated for its charm, and the property's setting is described as stunning.
Many guests found the property comfortable, with ample space and a warm atmosphere. However, some mentioned issues with creaky beds and a lack of basic supplies that slightly impacted the overall comfort.
Facilities like the hot tub, pool room, and games room are highlights, but there are reports of maintenance issues such as broken appliances and cleanliness oversights. The property is well-equipped, but attention to detail in maintaining and preparing these facilities could be improved.
While some guests were delighted by the thoughtful touches, such as Christmas decorations and a bottle of wine offered as an apology, there is insufficient information to determine if such gestures are consistent or guaranteed. Therefore, a score cannot be provided.

Minimal negatives,if being mega picky: the road was closed for 2 days so couldn't drive in or out the drive and we hadn't been told, there is literally nothing basic in the house which we've never experienced before eg.washing liquid, bin bags, oil, salt and pepper. This aside local pub amazing food, local cafe and bar amazing and shop stocks everything you need and not expensive. Great stay, thanks
Gary
Lovely garden and Spa pool. Quite a rush to leave on Friday with cleaners waiting outside at 9.05 am adding to the pressure. Quite expensive for a week but an exceptional holiday experience â¦All the guests including the dogs loved it.

Whilst the house in itself is still great, the wear and tear is definitely becoming visible and the property could do with updating in places. The TV in the main room is poor, and things like the outdoor table were dirty and worn. The oven was very dirty inside and the fan-assist on the bottom oven didn't work. The top oven seal must have gone as the control buttons above became incredibly hot and you couldn't turn it off without burning yourself. The outdoor bins were full and overflowing when we arrived so we were unable to use any recycling facilities at the property. Sadly however, these scores are mainly based on the fact we paid £160 supplement for use of the hot tub which we were unable to use due to a known fault in the pump. Despite multiple calls and messages from the first day that we arrived this wasn't rectified, and our complaints were continually dismissed. The awful noise from the filter/pump could be heard throughout the property, making sitting out and enjoying the garden impossible, not to mention not being able to actually use the hot tub as advertised. Very disappointed with the hot tub facility and the way the situation has been handled by Sykes/NCCC and we are currently in the middle of a complaint case where we are sharing the video evidence we have from our stay.
