This spacious holiday home offers modern, tastefully decorated bedrooms on the first floor including a beautiful master bedroom which features a huge contemporary bathroom for a relaxing soak after a day of adventure in the Lake District Fells. The ground floor is all about the social aspect and this will prove a winner with large families, multiple couples and groups. A large open-plan kitchen/dining room is at the heart of the home complete with dishwasher . There’s also a utility/laundry room and an additional toilet. The cosy living room with wood burner provides plenty of space to socialise and leads to a large conservatory with additional seating overlooking the spacious gardens at the rear. This really is a house that gives you flexibility whether you want a quiet night in front of the TV or maybe you want to open a few bottles of wine and get competitive over a board game in the conservatory. At the rear there is a patio and large lawned garden, great if you want to get the badminton out and enjoy the afternoon sun.
The traditional mining village of Dearham has a lot to offer, the local Post Office and shop is just across the road and it has a nearby chippy! If you fancy some pub grub or a rewarding drink after a long day, the village pub is just a five minute walk. Hop in the car and you will reach the town of Maryport in just 2½ miles, home to The Lake District Coast Aquarium as well as Clip ’n’ Climb, a popular climbing adventure attraction. Kids will love Cave at the Wave which features an indoor caving activity, or if you want to boost your adrenaline, you can whizz around the local go-karting track. If culture is your thing you can visit Senhouse Roman Museum or take a trip 4 miles away to Cockermouth. This lovely Cumbrian town is the birthplace of William Wordsworth and offers a delightful town centre with a good mix of bars, restaurants, shops and tourist attractions, and is also home to the famous Jennings’s Brewery. In just 7 miles you will be within the Lake District National Park with its stunning scenery and no end of walking and cycling routes. Or continue on your route another 8 miles to find Bassenthwaite Lake, one of Cumbria’s most stunning lakes with the backdrop of the imposing Skiddaw, a challenge for even the most experienced fell walkers. You’re about 10 minutes drive from Cockermouth and about 25 minutes to Keswick. Beach 3 miles. Shop 100 yards, pub ¼ mile and restaurant 2½ miles.

We had a lovely stay, the property was ideal for our family of 10 with everything we needed, beds were very comfortable and Julie the owner was readily available and helpful.

A great house on the edge of the Lake District. The village surrounding isn’t scenic but had what we needed - village shop, emergency take away, and a lovely pub - the Old Mill down the road we had dinner at twice. We also used a local business - canvas circle - to come and do a fun painting lesson for us one evening. Great location for exploring the less touristy lakes and close to cockermouth and Keswick. The house was a great size and layout. We had some very minor niggles worth mentioning for the owners to consider - The house does need more glasses for such a big house. Also a clothes airer would be good. When it was windy the windows were noisy/drafty and dishwasher needs a new bottom tray. The beds were on the small side - the master would benefit from a super king and the others could probably manage to fit king sized for extra comfort. The master en suite has an air lock in the plumbing and is really noisy when flushing the loo. The door handles on bedroom doors need WD40!! Otherwise great house and successful holiday!

We had a lovely family weekend here, the children enjoyed all the space indoors and outside. The kitchen is well equipped. We visited Maryport and Keswick which are not too far for a day trip. There is a local shop and takeaway which was great value. We loved watching the rabbits on the field at the back of the garden. We would highly recommend this property.
