This beautifully-presented, link-detached character cottage dating back to 1826 is located in the attractive village of Lazonby on the edge of the Eden Valley. This cottage is ideally located for family and friends wishing to spend time together and explore this stunning area. The River Eden runs through the bottom of the village and the property is also within easy reach of the Lake District. Stylishly and thoughtfully presented throughout, this cottage boasts a high quality well-equipped kitchen with granite surfaces, exposed beams and underfloor heating on the ground floor. There are three comfortable bedrooms upstairs with oak fitted wardrobes, each having the advantage of an USP socket. The fells such as Melmerby Fell beckon you from the views from the bedroom windows. After a day’s exploring relax in the lounge and cosy up in front of the woodburning stove. On warmer evenings why not throw open the front door and enjoy an alfresco meal or drink on the patio in the generous front enclosed cottage garden. This particularly well-served village not only has a choice of pubs, a church and petrol station but even has an outdoor heated swimming pool that is open in the summer months. The Settle-Carlisle Railway also stops here and the station is two minutes away from the cottage. Lazonby is surrounded by rolling hills and the idyllic countryside of the Eden Valley, ready for you to explore on foot or by cycling, and is a great area for birdwatching. A short drive away is the town of Penrith where younger members of your party can enjoy the glass roof heritage centre Rheged with its cafe, shops, play areas and huge 3D film screen. The centre also houses exhibitions, talks, live-screenings and even has a spa, so is a treat for all the family. Also a short drive away is the popular Hutton-in-the-Forest, a historic house and gardens which hosts a variety of events. Why not visit Ullswater Lake and Pooley Bridge with the historic steamers, watersports and its bustling village centre? For those looking for a more challenging activity the fells surrounding Ullswater include Helvellyn. This super cottage has delights to discover and explore that are so accessible in all directions, making it an ideal location all year round.
The attractive rural village of Lazonby is situated on the edge of the Eden Valley and North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It did say space for 2 cars but not sure where you would have parked the other car but they have a small driveway for one car which was great. The front garden is big and enclosed for any dogs to roam. The cottage is lovely, it was immaculately clean and refurbished to a high standard throughout. The living room/ dining room is average size but very nice with a log burner, underfloor heating and a smart tv. The Wifi was excellent which was useful as I had poor mobile signal. The Kitchen was average size with high end appliances except for the kettle which probably needs replacing. They left a bottle of wine for our arrival which was a kind gesture so thank you. However no essentials like milk, tea or coffee etc so make sure to take your own. The downstairs bathroom was handy with a shower and toilet. The main upstairs bedroom had an ensuite bathroom with a hot and powerful shower and a TV also which was great. All the bedrooms were a decent size and really nicely decorated. Especially the kids bedroom which has been very thoughtfully decorated with bunk beds and lovely decor. We had a really lovely stay here. There is a co op a short walk from the cottage, a local pub and a railway station but thats about it however it is a lovely village with walks nearby. We drove out to many lovely places. I really would recommend this cottage. It was lovely and quiet as its link detached so no noise from neighbours. It is on a road but it's not very busy and I hardly noticed any road noise. Thank you so much to Judith and Zeke for a lovely stay. Me, my mum and the dog had a great time. And thank you to the cleaners for ensuring it was very clean throughout the whole property. This a lovely place to stay for a holiday in the Lakes and would definitely recommend to anybody looking for a relaxing break.

The village was lovely - had a pub, and well stocked coop and we also got on the train which was a nice day out! Weâve already booked to go back!

We had a lovely time relaxing in the garden and exploring the area - Lazonby is delightful and we used it as a base to explore the Eden Valley ( very quiet and pretty) as well as being handy for the Northern Lakes. We would thoroughly recommend Rose cottage and look forward to coming back one day . Richard, Helen and Norman the dog
