Located in the beautiful and tranquil Eden Valley, Delmonte is on the outskirts of Langwathby, with its train station on the fabulous Carlisle to Settle line, a lovely local pub, which serves both excellent food and is just a short stroll away from the cottage. This ground floor bungalow has large airy rooms and with its elevated position, comes with fantastic views onto the village and onto the peaks of the Lake District. The Eden Valley nestles between the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North Pennines, Cumbria’s ‘hidden gem’, which maintains the illusion of untouched remoteness despite its extremely accessible location. There is superb walking and fishing locally. Penrith, Alston and Ullswater are all under 15 miles away, and Hadrian’s Wall is just 20 miles away. Pub, restaurant and train station ¼ mile.

When we first arrived I thought I’d made a big mistake. Cobwebs, dirty windows, cracked render. Inside was better. Huge rooms, lovely decor which picked up the score. There were flies all day everyday in every room. No idea where they came from but not just for us as there were marks where flies had been swatted on walls prior to our stay. The smell of damp dog was also overwhelming. We bought fabreeze and a candle so we managed to cope. The location is amazing. Views to die for and easy access to go exploring which again made up for the score. The hot tub was an absolute bonus but with the wet weather, it would have been perfect with a structure over it to use at all times. Definitely 3 stars as it wasn’t all bad.

Property was lovley. Great views. Plenty space. Nice and quiet, but there wqs a couple of problems, the beds are so uncomfortable, the fridge jad to be on a high setting for it to keep everything cool and was dirty on the outside. The TV wasnt Great kept turning its self on and off when trying to watch anything. Curtains werent hung fantastic. Overall lovley but could do with a little TLC
