The historic and lively market town of Ulverston (1.2 miles) has a wonderful collection of cosy pubs, traditional markets and cultural hotspots, and it’s known as the ‘party capital of Furness’, thanks to numerous festivals held throughout the year. Head to Newby Bridge (9 miles) to trace the southern tip of Lake Windermere to Lakeside, starting point for Windermere lake cruises.
