    Martyn – 29 Oct 2018
"Spent a long weekend in late October with the extended family intending to spend all of the time in S14678 rather than exploring the area. S14678 is a fabulous building and the grounds are well kept and beautiful. Had a good time, once the downstairs heating was sorted and the open fire lit. Couple of minor disappointments were the very poor wifi, (didn't work downstairs and the upstairs was limited to the TV room where the router was located), which was made more frustrating by the fact that mobile reception in S14678 is poor, (which can't be helped); and the downstairs TV had an irritating habit of freezing for a couple of seconds on a frequent basis."
    Steve – 24 Aug 2018
"Lovely house, lovely location and relaxing."
    Jane – 14 May 2018
"A wonderful home from home, our 3rd visit and won't be our last"
    Linda – 23 Feb 2018
"S14678 is an imposing property and the "wow" factor as you enter the wing and wander through the magnificent rooms is one you will not forget for a very long time, if ever. The décor and attention to detail of the owners gives S14678 a very comfortable and homely feeling, especially once you have lit the open fire in the drawing room and dropped the blinds. Whilst the "local amenities" are not within walking distance, the Shell station in Powburn is very well stocked, is a quick trip in the car and much nearer than the supermarkets in Alnwick. But order your groceries on-line with the "taste the difference" supermarket - much easier. Visits to Bamburgh, Holy Island, Cragside House, Walkworth Castle and Rothbury village all add to the Northumberland experience. A fabulous property, in a fabulous county."
    Catherine – 16 Feb 2018
"Utterly beautiful house and grounds- the owners were welcoming. We intend to return and would highly recommend it to others. S14678 is very comfortable and extremely well equipped, especially the kitchen. Loved using the open fire and the views and local walks were stunning."
    Linden – 5 Jan 2018
"We absolutely loved this place. We felt very privileged to be staying in a wing of a beautiful country house. We were made to feel very welcome by the owner and had free run of the beautiful grounds. The rooms were luxurious and we had everything we could want Best bits were sitting round the open fire, cooking on the Aga, watching the pheasants and the highland cattle. Not so good if you want a local pub or restaurant but great if you want to eat in on luxury."
    David – 28 Dec 2017
"Lovely Xmas break. As been before knew to come prepared food wise as approx 10 miles to shops, but no problem as nice drive. Decor goes with the house but could do with bit more light for eating / reading, but not easy to find balance for age of house. Bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen all very good standard and easy to use everything. Would definitely return."
    Mary – 10 Nov 2017
"Lovely place to stay - we were a party of 8, 4 retired couples. S14678 is very impressive but also warm and comfortable - a great combination. Once we had seen the lovely dining room and very well equipped kitchen we opted to eat at home! Relaxed after dinner in the lounge with log fire burning. Local pubs and restaurants are in any case a bit of a drive so this worked really well. Bedrooms are comfortable and in some cases luxurious and having ensuite for each room worked brilliantly. Grounds are delightful, loved seeing the pheasants wandering across the lawn on a frosty morning - just like a Christmas card! Would definitely recommend a stay here as long as you are aware will need a bit of driving to get to visit some of Northumberland's lovely sites and scenery."
    Geoff – 13 Oct 2017
"Lovely place, pleasantly secluded location with grounds to wander in, light sleepers best advised to sleep on the side away from the bell tower!"
    Pam – 6 Oct 2017
"Nine of us stayed 4 nights and enjoyed the comfort of S14678. We enjoyed walking, visiting Alnwick, Cragside and beaches not far away."
    Ambrose – 1 Sep 2017
"We all enjoyed the experience of staying in a "stately home" especially having the run of the huge and beautiful garden. Alnwick Garden and Castle are both child-friendly days out. The beaches at Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh Castles are spectacular."
    Mary – 11 Aug 2017
"S14678 is a lovely, large home with beautiful gardens. What we loved: For ambience on a grand scale, it probably can't be surpassed. The house in large in scale - we are a family of 5, so we had more than enough room with 5 bedrooms, which were each the size of a large hotel suite, and with lots of light from the big windows. The kitchen was well-equipped and easy to use, and the washer and dryer very helpful. Our children loved running in the large lawn adjacent to the property, and were thrilled to play with the owners' dog, who would greet us when we returned each day. The local area is a bit remote, although that is exactly what we wanted (closest grocery is 25 min drive), with very good options for sightseeing and exploring within an hour's drive in all directions. What we didn't love: we barely used the first floor other than the kitchen, the dining room was too formal and large, and the sitting room, for some reason, just didn't suit us as a place to sit and watch television. The wifi only worked well in the upstairs lounge, and somewhat well in the two adjoining bedrooms -- as there was no signal for our cell phones there, we were reliant on wi-fi for checking emails etc. So we spent too much time upstairs, near the wifi, and our boys in the upstairs lounge watching tv. The final comment is highly subjective to our experience, but having stayed in beautiful villas and houses all over the world, some with owners in residence, we found this particular house to be a little too formal, with many posted regulations about what to do/not to do (understandably to protect the house), but as a family vacation we couldn't quite relax here."

"Time spent at Eslington Park is time well spent. S14678 is "Downton Abbey" but with all the modcons. A delightful venue for a special occasion - we celebrated my partner's 60th birthday with friends - but with 5 spacious bedrooms would also be fabulous for a family holiday. A step back into quieter times but close enough for lovely days out at the seaside - the beach at Bamburgh has clean, golden sand and you can walk for miles. Rothbury village has a good variety of shops and Cragside (NT) should be on everyone's visit list. You arrive at S14678 with hopes of a wonderful venue and restful atmosphere and it doesn't disappoint. And to cap it all, the "taste the difference" supermarket delivers - magic!"
    Jane – 6 Mar 2017
"Overall we had a lovely stay but we were very disappointed that 2 days out of our 3 we had no lights in some bedrooms and bathrooms. We arrived on the friday evening and this was not fixed until sunday am. Bathing babies in the dark was not great and quite dangerous. we tried all the contact numbers but no was getting back to us. this was disappointing to what should have been a hassle free weekend away with friends."
    Frances – 30 Jan 2017
"Our 4th time at this wonderful house. We couldn't ask for a more lovely setting and comfortable house. The owner came to see us as we were leaving and was very friendly and happy that we had enjoyed our stay. The house is beautifully furnished and extra touches like eggs left for us and vases of flowers made us feel very welcome. The house is warm and spacious. The option to use the open fire with logs provided was wonderful with the only stipulation that the grate be cleaned before leaving and the log basket be refilled from the large log store. This with very little effort and in fact a novelty as we don't have an open fire at home in the city. Would certainly recommend S14678."
    Timothy
"A fantastic country retreat; large, comfortable, warm and we'll equipped.Great for Northumbrian sight-seeing and country walk.Car journeys to get anywhere, as you would expect for a country house.Would stay again."

"Fantastic house and location. would love to return in the future."

"A beautiful place and very homely. Ideal for us in our 70s enjoying a 50th reunion! We would certainly consider going again with family and grandchildren. Very comfortable, warm and easy to use, especially the kitchen."

"A great place to celebrate my 70th, yes 70th birthday with my family of eight. Great accommodation stunning grounds and the night sky's are to die for. The whole setting took our breath away. Highly recommended."

"S14678 is a beautiful house, kept in immaculate condition by its owners. The grounds are lovely and if you are looking for a relaxing break that offers complete isolation (there is no mobile phone signal in the area and wifi is only in the upstairs snug) then the house is perfect. On our arrival the house was filled with fresh flowers, beautifully arranged and fresh eggs from the farm's hens. A really lovely touch. The quality of everything from bedding to kitchen equipment is extremely high, Oka bedlinen, goose down mattress toppers and Le Creuset pans.An ample supply of logs was readily available for the fire, which we used, the owners do request you replace these and clean out the grates, which of course we did.Do read the house book when you arrive as there are several instructions from the owners about 'house rules' which need to be adhered to, for example stripping the beds before you leave. The book was left on the kitchen window sill amongst others so we didn't see it at first. I didn't know that part of the garden is out of bounds, with hindsight understandably so for the owner's privacy, and walked there which prompted a call from the owner who was quite upset. Overall a very enjoyable Easter break with the family in a perfect location. I would recommend S14678 to well behaved house guests who will treat the property with the respect it truly deserves."
    Stuart
"Absolutely fantastic holiday. House was excellently presented in beautiful surroundings. Very family-friendly, with loads of space for the kids to stretch their legs and plenty of room in the house to ensure that everyone had their own space when they wanted it. Particularly liked the upstairs snug which quickly became the kids' own room, leaving the adults in peace downstairs!Highly recommended and we'll be back soon!"
    Michael
"Fabulous property in beautiful grounds, very friendly and helpful owners. Ideal location for visiting coastal locations ie Amble, Alnmouth, Beadnell, Bamburgh and Lindisfarne. Alnwick and Rothbury well worth visiting and Cragside national trust is a must.Edinburgh can be easily reached by train from Alnmouth."
    Elizabeth
"Our weekend in S14678 was very special and we wished we could have stayed longer. Everything we could have needed was provided, in the kitchen and elsewhere. My 91 year old mother was very comfortable, she loved the beautiful surroundings and didn't need to travel anywhere to enjoy her holiday. The luxurious bedrooms included very comfortable beds, ample storage and impressive en suite arrangements. We were made to feel very welcome and the fresh eggs and home grown tomatoes were a nice touch. We definitely want to visit again to explore more of this beautiful location."
    Denise
"A fantastic place to stay. So quiet and beautiful. So much room. It's not everyday you wake up to a deer outside your front door. Very convenient location."
    Gary
"A very comfortable venue with a big 'wow factor'. Lovely big rooms finished to a high standard. The owner, Lady Linda could not have been more helpful or friendly. Well keep big grounds, perfect for kids to play or for an evening stroll."
    Paula

    "Superb property - highly recommended!"
    Judith
"Excellent accommodation for our purposes. We were surprised at how warm it was in view of the age of the property and of the external temperatures during our stay. Well appointed with everything we needed for our annual House Party."
    Donna
"Fantastic property in a beautiful location. Very well equipted kitchen with arga which I have never used before but very easy to manage and makes jacket potatoes taste amazing. All the bedrooms were dressed to a high standard with very comftable beds, pillows and duvets. We were they as a group of ten ladies for a hen party ages range from 24 - 70 and all of us had an excellent time, very relaxing with open fire in lounge with unlimited supply of logs and extensive suppy of dvds provided for a nice cozy afternoon. Can not fault the property, will certainly be booking again and would highly recomend property."

"This was the second time we had booked this property, and again we all (8 people in our party), had a really great weekend. Although set in the country you have relatively easy access to the coast and Alnwick etc. On Saturday the men had a thoroughly enjoyable round of golf at Dunstanburgh Castle while the ladies went off to the Metro Centre. On Saturday evening we had a very nice meal in the Treehouse at Alnwick. We spent most of Sunday at Cragside estate which is well worth a visit, and finished at Seahouses where we had a fish tea. Sept 2011. "

"We have a reunion each year in September and our party of 8 people were all of the opinion that the property more than met our expectations in all respects. As a group we had no hesitation in booking up for next year which I believe is testament to the excellent standards and also the variety of things to do in the area. The men played golf on the Saturday while the ladies went shopping to Newcastle. We had a meal to remember in the Treehouse Restaurant at Alnwick Castle/Gardens on the Saturday evening and spent Sunday visiting Lindisfarne, Bamburgh and Seahouses. Sept 2010."

"Amazing, thats the only word that can describe it. We booked S14678 for a house party. All our group live in beautiful homes, but the quality of S14678 was and is amazing. The property retains its character, but has been restored to an amazing standard, and if I was the owner I would want to live in it not hire it out! We found everything spotlessly clean, and everything was there we could have hoped for. Nov 2009."
