Situated in idyllic Alsop-En-Le-Dale, this delightful cottage is an excellent base for large families or groups of friends. Not only will you have miles of beautiful walking trails to discover, there are opportunities for cycling alongside adrenaline fuelled activities such as abseiling, caving and climbing too. Exert yourself on your adventures, then retreat to the privacy of the garden, a sanctuary with a bubbling hot tub that’s perfect for stargazing. On chillier nights, nothing beats curling up by the wood burner with a drink in hand.

Inside is the epitome of hygge comfort thanks to the timber beams and chic decor. Soak up the views across the countryside as you tuck into bacon and eggs in the kitchen/diner, sampling local coffee and planning your itinerary for the day. Wild swimming, gorge scrambling or mountain climbing opportunities are there for the taking thanks to the diverse landscape of the stunning Peak District National Park. You’ll also be able to book guided tours if you’d like to scale the imposing peak of Kinder Scout (28.5 miles). If the thought of this fills you with dread, Bakewell is a delightful and sedate alternative – you can explore its honeyed-stone properties and tempting tearooms serving slabs of its iconic pudding.
