About this property

Winster 1.5 miles. A charming semi-detached barn conversion, situated on the owner's farm close to the village of Winster, 6 miles from Matlock. Skilfully converted, Nuffies Cottage combines the traditional with the modern, boasting old cruck beams, panoramic views of rolling countryside and a spacious patio area, ideal for dining alfresco and enjoying the setting sun. The historic village of Winster is a delight to discover, with its 17th and 18th century buildings and small selection of shops and traditional pubs, whilst the towns of Bakewell, Matlock and Ashbourne are all within easy reach. Ideal for family and friends, this lovely retreat provides an excellent base for touring and exploring the Peak District National Park and visiting nearby Haddon Hall and Alton Towers. Note: This property can be booked with Ref. 2686, together they sleep 10.

A conservation village, Winster is in the Peak District National Park and makes a charming base for a holiday. It has a 17th Century market house at its centre, and on the three main streets there are many three storey 18th Century houses. Winding through the village are little alleyways, known to the locals as ginnels, which are well worth exploring. Winster has many traditions, Morris Dancers, the Wakes festivities in June, and the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race, making this sleepy little village far more vibrant and exciting than many similar sized locations. Walkers and cyclists are well placed for the Tissington Trail and The Limestone way and amenities in the village include a general store, post office and two pubs that serve local food and ales. More shops and facilities can be found in nearby Bakewell and Matlock.

the well maintained garden has an open west facing aspect over farmland. So an evening suntrap. The long single track access lanes can be tricky if an oncoming vehicle is encountered. Luckily this only happened once during our 3 day stay.

The owners were friendly and helpful. By chance we were there during a village beer festival, to which we felt welcomed. Good position for access to the cycling trails.

We were able to make full use of all the facilities available, and were within easy reach of local areas of interest. Friendly owners, and a welcoming, warm feel to the cottages when we arrived. Thank you.
