We had a fantastic weeks stay in this lovely cottage. It is the most well equipped cottage we have stayed in, they have thought of everything. The fans were a life saver in the heat we had when we stayed. The garden is perfect with different sitting areas and perfect for our dog to run around. The owners are lovely and live very close if you need anything. It's a 10 minute walk to the town centre which is down a steep hill but there are buses to get you back up the hill if needed. There are two lovely bars and a deli very close by which do not take you down the hill. Parking on the street is restricted during the week but we were able to park in the little street opposite most of the time. We will definitely be looking to stay again.

Ive just returned from a week long stay in Rycroft cottage with my dog and would definitely return. I picked this, partly due to so many other positive reviews and they were correct. The cottage is very well equipped for self catering and appliances all seem very new. I often find in rentals that the kitchens are lacking in utensils, oven trays, etc but that was not the case. I cooked every evening and everything I needed was there. There were bowls for my dog as well as clean towels and throws for sofas( I usually have to take my own). The garden is particularly nice for sitting and relaxing and there are plenty of seats with cushions for comfort. The cottage is on a road and I had wondered if the noise would bother me as a light sleeper but I honestly didnt hear any noise during the night or early morning. The bathroom was really nice with large shower, plus a bath and water was always hot when I needed it.There was a nice welcome pack on arrival including cake, biscuits, jams and a bottle of wine, which is just a nice little extra touch.Although I didnt need any assistance from the owners while I was there, it was good to know that they were on hand if I did and very easily contactble. The only thing that would have improved things for me would have been a blackout blind in the bedroom as being June it got light very early! This wouldnt put me off but I would probably take a sleep mask another time. The cottage is well situated, just a 5-10 minute walk downhill to central Matlock but be warned the walk back up the hill is quite strenuous at the end of the day. There is no allocated parking at the cottage, which concerned me a little but i always managed to get parked on the street very close by so it wasnt an issue. For visitors with dogs there are plenty nice walks from the cottage such as Heights of Abraham and Matlock bath, Riber castle, Darley Bridge.I also walked to Chatsworth and the Monsal trail from Bakewell, which is about 15 mins drive.Wi-fi was very good and smart tvs in both lounges. All in all Rycroft is definitely one of the best holiday cottages ive stayed in.

Has an amazing week in this cottage , it everything you need , great kitchen, 2 lovely sitting rooms both with a tv so no arguments about what to watch . The beds are really comfortable and the bathroom as a separate shower and bath, but the best thing about this place is the garden it’s truly amazing for outdoor dining or having a drink , we will be back 👍
