About this property

Flora Cottage is a delightful, three-bedroom holiday home resting in the quaint town of Tideswell in Derbyshire. With a stone-fronted, ivy-covered façade, and a collection of elegant, traditional interiors, this charming dwelling also offers an enclosed, multi-level garden and a superb location just a stone's throw from the closest shop and pub, making an ideal base for a family or group of friends seeking to make memories at the heart of the Peak District National Park. Park up roadside outside Flora Cottage, taking a moment to gaze around and soak in your peaceful new village surroundings. Enter your new home-from-home to discover an array of tastefully-presented living spaces, starting with the fully-equipped kitchen/diner that features a dining table with ample seating and a galley-style kitchen complete with all the appliances the chosen chef will need to whip up delicious, home-cooked dinners. Out back, the enclosed tiered patio invites you and your loved ones to delight in a spot of alfresco dining with the help of a barbecue, whilst an external utility houses a washing machine to help keep your clothes fresh throughout your stay. To unwind, kick back in the sitting room to enjoy a film or two on the sleek Smart TV whilst a tasteful woodburning stove keeps the space nice and warm. When the sun has set, head upstairs to refresh with a dip in the corner bath before you finally settle in for a well-earned rest in one of the home's three plush bedrooms, choosing between a king-size, twin, or single. Start the day with a coffee with the help of the coffee maker before you head out on foot to explore Tideswell and beyond. A stroll into the village centre will bring you to your nearest convenience store - the Co-Op Food - as well as a selection of independent pubs and eateries, including the Star Inn, The Anchor Inn, The Horse & Jockey, and Sal's Italian. Further afield, a quick car trip will take you to neighbouring Buxton, a historic town home to the iconic attractions of Poole's Cavern, Buxton Park, Corbar Cross, and The Pavilion Gardens. Nestled within the national park, be spoilt with various walking and cycling trails, starting from your doorstep, including Miller’s Dale Monsal Trail, and the Chee Dale Stepping Stones, or for a hike, head to Plantlife Deep Dale Nature Reserve. By car you can also reach Chatsworth, recommended to tour Chatsworth House and Garden, cross over Paine's Bridge, overlooking River Derwent, before stopping off for a picnic or an afternoon of family fun at Chatsworth Farmyard & Adventure Playground. Make memories to last a lifetime in the Peak District by booking Flora Cottage.

The village of Tideswell stands in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Famous for its fine church dedicated to St John the Baptist, known as "The Cathedral of the Peak", the village is also noted for its well dressing and carnival wakes. There is excellent walking with rugged peaks to the north, gentle hills and dales to the south and Millers Dale just outside the village. Mam Tor and Castleton are only a few miles away and the popular Spa town of Buxton is within a 15 minute drive. Tideswell has many fine country inns, a chemist, butchers, bakers and much more including a convenient supermarket open daily until 10pm. The pretty little market town of Bakewell is also just a short drive away and well worth a visit.

Wood burner was very cosy and the underfloor heating in the bathroom was wonderful in the cold December mornings. Great beds which were very comfortable. Only slight issues were: - Given wrong code for the key safe which involved a slightly embarrassing wait on the pavement to phone Sykes. - No tea towel to dry dishes. - Would be nice if there was some complimentary body wash, but this is really nitpicking!

The woodburning stove, the big bath and the fluffy carpets, not to mention the beautiful beds and bedding made it a luxurious stay. The location is perfect, we loved exploring the village, especially the bakery and the pub. Lots of lovely walks nearby too. A great family holiday that we won't forget. Thank you
