Guests say

Lees Farm in Buxton offers a tranquil, remote setting with stunning views, ideal for family gatherings and nature enthusiasts. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, cosy log fires, and the property's charm, despite some noting maintenance issues and the challenging access road.

The property is generally praised for its cleanliness, with guests finding it well-kept and tidy. However, a few guests mentioned musty smells and the need for a deeper clean of carpets, slightly lowering the score.

The location receives high acclaim for its outstanding views and peacefulness, being set in the beautiful Peak District. The remote aspect is much appreciated, although the access road's condition is a concern for some.

Guests find the property comfortable, with cosy bedrooms and living spaces. However, some guests mention issues with uncomfortable beds and heating, which affects the overall comfort experience.

The property is well-furnished with a well-stocked kitchen and log burners. Nonetheless, recurring comments on maintenance issues such as broken furniture, lighting, and appliance problems suggest room for improvement.

While some guests mention a welcome touch with milk and biscuits, there is insufficient information to assess the consistency of such gestures across all stays. Therefore, a score cannot be provided, and guests should note that such amenities are not guaranteed.

About this property

Priestcliffe 1 mile.

A superb, stone-built detached farmhouse on a remote hillside, with wonderful views across the awe-inspiring Monsal Valley, just under a mile from the hamlet of Priestcliffe, in the High Peak. Lees Farm has been restored to provide outstanding accommodation of character and charm in the most enviable of positions. The property boasts a spacious sitting room with dining area and woodburning stove, a cosy snug with woodburning stove, and a well-equipped kitchen with range cooker. Walkers and mountain bikers will be spoilt for choice with many bridleways, a nature reserve and tracks and footpaths through magnificent open moors and countryside. For those wishing to get away from it all and enjoy the peace and tranquillity, this is the one for you.

This small hamlet of farms and houses sits between Taddington, Monsal Head and the River Wye in the Peak District. It has some spectacular scenery and Monsal Head is famed for the magnificent view along Monsal Dale and the Wye Valley, and offers some amazing walks. The Monsal Trail takes walkers along a former Midland Railway track, over a majestic viaduct above the river and into a tunnel which goes beneath Monsal Head, understandably making this a popular route with walkers. Bakewell, a picturesque market town, lies just seven miles away and has a variety of shops, restaurants and pubs, and there is a farmer's market held once a week, usually on a Monday. This area makes a fantastic base for a holiday in this stunning location.

The house is perfect and we call it the Up House from the wonderful film Up. This was our fourth stay. Thank you again.

We can see the owner has made improvements such as new heating etc but furniture and TV remains the same as 9 years ago. Would recommend an allen key so that the garden furniture can be tightened - it’s all very loose. Some TLC needed around the property. Whilst every kitchen item is catered for I would recommend taking toilet rolls, bin bags, cleaning supplies etc. Overall a beautiful location and lovely secluded property to enjoy a break away. It’s unfortunate for the price of the break that you’re unable to check in until 5pm as you’re technically losing a day at the property.

A plumber came promptly but we didn't see him again with the part. Outside furniture all needing attention or replacing. One chair collapsed when one of our party sat on it.
