Guests say

New Cottage Farm in Buxton is highly praised for its stunning views, cleanliness, and cosy atmosphere. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, comfortable beds, and the warm welcome, often highlighted by the thoughtful touch of wine and chocolates. Despite some comments about draughty living rooms, uncomfortable settees, and the absence of Wi-Fi, the charm of the cottage and its location in the Peak District make it a favoured choice for a peaceful retreat.

Guests consistently note the cottage's immaculate condition and cleanliness. The property is described as well looked after, with several reviews specifically mentioning how clean and tidy it is.

The location is celebrated for its remote setting and panoramic views, offering a peaceful environment. However, some guests mention the proximity to a main road and the absence of a nearby pub as minor drawbacks.

The majority of guests find the cottage comfortable, highlighting the cosy beds and warm atmosphere. A few guests, however, mention draughty areas and uncomfortable settees, which slightly impacts the overall comfort score.

Facilities are generally well-received, with the cottage being well-equipped and the fireplaces appreciated. Maintenance issues like window sealing and steep stairs are noted, and the lack of Wi-Fi is a recurring point, leading to a slightly lower score.

The thoughtfulness of the host is frequently mentioned, with guests delighted by the welcome gifts of wine and chocolates. It is important to note that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for every stay.

We stayed there as a party of 5 adults and it was perfect (apart from the lack of WiFi, but that is probably to do with the gloriously remote location). The kitchen is very well equipped, and the lounge very comfortable. We were there for New Year, so the wood burning stove was a very welcome bonus. The location is stunning, with lovely views over the valley - there is also a table set up outside which in summer must be a gorgeous place to sit. A couple of small notes for people booking (and I recommend that you do) - the directions were a little vague (the property is before you get to the local cafe/store) and the Travellers Rest Pub (which was the closest) seems to have closed down for the public. Having said that, the New Inn in Flash is only a 15 minute walk away and is charming, with a very good bar, food in the summer and a very warm welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property and wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Great location for walking straight from the door. Nice and quiet even though it's just off a very busy road. Will definitely be booking again.

Was very clean and tidy. Close to the road but you couldn’t hear it from inside. Had a fantastic time, will definitely be going back.
