Smallshaw Cottages be found in an elevated position, with a setting that can only be described as stunning. Offering fabulous panoramic views of the Peak District National Park, this wing of a larger property has been lovingly restored and offers enough space to enjoy a family escape to the country. The Farmhouse retains its original character through exposed beams and stonework, and has also been lovingly and attractively furnished throughout. The Farmhouse enjoys use of extensive gardens shared with the other properties on-site, offering fabulous views and a variety of seating areas which provide the perfect place to unwind on warmer days. The gardens are complemented even further by use of a shared hot tub, Finnish barbecue house (available on request, at cost) and tennis courts. The on-site spa is complete with steam rooms, saunas, foot spas, an aromatherapy room, tropical experience shower and a Rasul mud room, as well as an outdoor area with wood-fired tub (all available at cost). Inspired by the relaxing, calming and revitalising aura of South East Asia, the spa is a haven in which to enjoy incredible facilities, set within stunning countryside, just perfect to energise the soul.
Surrounded by open fields and with uninterrupted views of the moors, Smallshaw Cottages are ideally located if you love the great outdoors. Overlooking the Trans Pennine Trail, and with your four-legged friends welcome, local walks are plentiful with many reservoirs and trails on the doorstep. There is an excellent choice of country pubs and restaurants within easy reach, and nearby attractions include the bustling town of Holmfirth, Chatsworth House, Harewood House, the ever popular market town of Bakewell or spa town of Buxton. If you’re missing the bright lights of city life, Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester are no more than a 40-minute drive away. Shop and pub 1½ miles, restaurant ½ mile.

The day spa is shared with the other cottages on-site and members of the public but must be prebooked as it gets very booked up in advance. An extra cost applies to this. Details on this are on the pre arrival information on our website under the section During Your Stay.

Lovely house in a beautiful country side. We loved the horse in the paddock behind the garden. We saw many butterflies in the summer. It was just a peaceful lovely stay.

The Farmhouse is in a rural location, which for some may be an issue as you have to drive to find shops, pubs, restaurants. It is a beautiful house, well furnished with lots of space for guests. Sadly privacy was an issue as there is no private garden & people would walk through what we felt was ‘our’ area without comment. The bbq house was great fun but if you do the ‘Do it yourself’ option there needs to be equipment to clean adequately. The hot tub was enjoyed by all our group & the massages at The Spa were very good.Guest information re walks from & nearby would be beneficial, especially for doggy families. As there is no enclosed gardens a long lead is recommended.Overall we had a good time & would recommend despite the little niggles.

We really enjoyed our stay.,The accommodation was very spacious, clean and well equipped. The grounds were spectacular and sencerary amazing, the facilties were out of this world and the hot tub was a added bonus. Would highly recommend for someone looking for a relaxing, luxury get away.
