About this property

If you're looking for a family holiday in North Wales, look no further than Berwyn Villa, an end-terrace, stone-built cottage in Llangynog, Powys. It's the perfect blend of traditional Welsh cottage and rural surroundings, with beautiful views to enjoy during the day and outdoor activities nearby, such as the renowned Snowdonia National Park. The family kitchen/diner has a lovely country-style kitchen with a dining table for five, a double oven, and a gas hob to whip up home-cooked meals, as well as a dishwasher. Next door, the sitting room is a homely and relaxing space furnished with a classic Welsh dresser, a smart TV, and a gas fire, perfect for unwinding after long days exploring. For freshening up after a hike, there is a convenient wet room on the ground floor, complete with a washing machine to throw in muddy gear. There is also a bathroom upstairs with a bath, plus a heated towel rail. The first of the three bedrooms is a spacious double room with a storage space. The second bedroom has twin beds and a wardrobe, while the third bedroom is a snug single. In the mornings, why not enjoy breakfast outside in your private garden with a picnic bench? You can sip your morning coffee whilst admiring the village and dramatic surrounding hills. Llangynog is a quaint little village located in the heart of Powys where you can dine at the New Inn, whilst nearby attractions include the stunning Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall and the Y Berwyn National Nature Reserve. There are plenty of walks and cycle trails to explore, including Revolution Bike Park, the Berwyn Mountain range, and Bala Lake (Llyn Tegid) for a variety of watersports. Nearby villages include Penybontfawr with a Post Office shop and Llanwddyn on the shores of Lake Vyrnwy, whilst the market town of Welshpool is brimming with local history and heritage. Discover archaeological finds and exhibits at The Wharf Powysland Museum, explore the rolling landscape on the Welshpool & Llanfair Railway Preservation, and marvel at Powis Castle and Garden with ornate interiors and impressive grounds. Whatever your holiday plans, gather the family for a memorable holiday at Berwyn Villa.

Llangynog sits at the foot of Milltir Cerrig in North Powys. The River Afon Tant runs through the community, making it ideal for strolls. A stone-built church is nearby for history buffs. The New Inn has scenic views of the Snowdonia Mountains and a well-stocked Post Office is a short drive away. In Bala, you can climb, abseil, mountain bike, canoe, and kayak on a glacial lake. Llanrhaeadr Waterfall, the tallest single-drop waterfall in England and Wales, is nearby, as is Shrewsbury, with its Grade I castle. This beautiful region is ideal for exploring North and Mid Wales and Shropshire.

Cottage itself is spacious and comfortable with an additional bathroom on the ground floor. Despite being on a main road out, the cottage is quiet at night. Only cons we experienced are -the single bed mattresses could be better -a few small items (toilet seat and the shower drain) need fixing in the downstairs bathroom.

Every room was comfortable and nicely decorated. All appliances worked perfectly and the bathrooms were excellent. The owners were lovely people and would do anything to help you. Right in the centre of the village and it seemed as though we were part of village life. We would love to stay there again in the future. A lovely place to stay.

Lots of stunning local walks and hills to climb. We also loved sitting in the garden which enjoyed sun all day. Nice central location to explore lake Bala, lake Vyrnwy, Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall and the full shopping amenities of Oswestry. Also easy reaching distance of Barmouth. Modern smart TV meant we could snuggle up to a nice film in spacious lounge in the evening too. Kitchen fully equipped and clean and tidy. Mind you, with a pub across the road and having eaten out most days we only cooked once! Thanks for a lovely stay. We’ll definitely return!
