Barn Suite offers a charming and characterful stay in a picturesque countryside setting, with easy access to local walks, pubs, and nearby towns. Guests frequently praise the welcoming host, spacious living area, and tranquil gardens. While the property’s rustic appeal and location are highlights, some guests note that the kitchen, bathroom, and outdoor areas could benefit from modernisation and better upkeep. Overall, the cottage provides a cosy and relaxing retreat, especially for those who appreciate a natural, peaceful environment.
Cleanliness receives mixed feedback. Several guests found the property clean and tidy, particularly the main living area, but others reported issues such as a grimy fridge handle, neglected outdoor spaces, and occasional maintenance lapses. Overall, cleanliness is generally acceptable but could be improved.
The location is widely praised for its beautiful countryside setting, proximity to Penn village, Beaconsfield, and local attractions. Guests enjoy the peaceful surroundings, scenic walks, and easy access to amenities, making it a standout feature of the property.
Guests appreciate the spacious and characterful main room, comfortable lounge area, and overall cosy atmosphere. However, some mention uncomfortable beds and occasional cold on arrival, which slightly detracts from the overall comfort.
Facilities are adequate but dated. The kitchen and bathroom are functional but in need of refurbishment, and some guests experienced issues with lighting, shower fittings, and outdoor maintenance. The property’s character and living space are positives, but modernisation would enhance the experience.
Some guests mention thoughtful touches such as a warm welcome, tea, coffee, and fresh milk on arrival. However, these gestures are not consistently provided and cannot be guaranteed. Communication with the host is generally positive, though a few guests experienced difficulties.

I’ve been on many cottage breaks in my time but this is by far the worst. We had difficulty finding the Barn Suite on arrival as no signage. No key in key safe on arrival so we had to hunt down the owner to access the property. Outside areas neglected and poorly lit. Kitchen needs a refit and not even a pint of milk left for us in the fridge. That being said, we were initially happy with the main living/dining/sleeping area. On the whole nicely decorated, the bed was comfy and the beamed ceiling was lovely. However, on the third evening of a supposed 4 night stay, as we were watching tv, we saw a rodent type creature run across the floor, up behind a wardrobe and scurry along the beams at the edge of the ceiling and hide behind them. We also heard further scrabbling from the ceiling across the other side of the room so the creature was not alone. By this time, as it was close to midnight and there was no way we could have slept in that room, we felt we had no option but to leave the property and drive home. After leaving I have twice messaged the owner but had no response. The booking agents though have been very responsive and helpful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Barn Suit, chosen as it was convenient for visits to family and friends in the area. It's location in the lovely village of Penn was a big positive in choosing this property and we weren't disappointed. We would be more than happy to stay there again when the situation arises. Thank you for a delightful few days.

What an absolutely delightful place to stay. The barn suite was such lovely space to be in surrounded by nature. The property is an old converted barn so it is a little dated, but don't let that put you off. It has such a lovely energy about the place and the owner was so welcoming and friendly. Check-in was easy, I hadn't read the instructions properly but when I called for assistance the call was answered straight away and the lady on the other end let me know what I needed to do. I absolutely loved the place and will definitely be booking to come again. Lots of lovely little touches like coffee, tea, some fresh milk in the fridge. The furniture although vintage was clean and the place had a lovely smell when I arrived. Highly recommended.
