Gate House is a spacious and welcoming holiday home and is comfortably furnished throughout, perfect for families or groups seeking comfort and relaxation. The property boasts large, open, and airy rooms throughout, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere from the moment you step inside. With three well-appointed bedrooms, including one with a modern en-suite shower room, and a family bathroom featuring both a bath and a separate shower, there’s plenty of space for everyone to unwind. The conservatory offers a tranquil spot to enjoy a morning coffee or evening read, while the practical utility room adds extra convenience for longer stays.Outside, the enclosed garden provides a safe and peaceful haven, complete with a patio area and garden furniture, ideal for alfresco dining or soaking up the sun in privacy.
Situated in Bembridge, close to Forelands Beach, Gate House is located within walking distance of this unspoilt sailing village, with its three beaches, a picturesque harbour and a selection of shops and pubs. Bembridge Windmill (National Trust) is the only surviving windmill on the Isle of Wight and you can climb to the top and find out how it used to be a working mill.
A short drive away is the seaside town of Sandown, which provides a great day out for all the family. Wildheart Animal Sanctuary is known for rescuing big cats such as tigers and lions, as well as being the home to meerkats, monkeys, birds, farm animals and many more! Children will also love Dinosaur Isle, a museum which contains real bones on display, life-sized models and plenty of interactive exhibits to keep you busy for hours.
The traditional seaside town of Ventnor is also worth a visit, with its micro-climate, shingle beach and Blackgang Chine, the UK’s oldest amusement park. Travel inland to the county town of Newport where you can find plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés, or explore Carisbrooke Castle with its panoramic views. Beach ¾ mile.

Lovely cottage plenty of room for 4 adults plus a baby. Good facilities in the kitchen. Location is ideal just yards from the Foreland Beach. Thank you we had a lovely stay & will be back next year.

Gate House, Bembridge – September 2026(When we arrived the key lock box was broken and the key left on top - a security risk.)The location of Gate House is excellent — close to The Crab & Lobster, also a lovely beach bar and just a 5–10 minute walk from a superb beach. Unfortunately, the condition and maintenance of the property did not match the impression given by the photographs in the listing, which appear to be many years out of date.The gardens are a good size with ample parking, but they are clearly neglected. Weeds were growing extensively through the block paving, shrubs were badly overgrown and there was a noticeable lack of general maintenance. The bins were full when we arrived and, despite contacting Island Holiday Homes, were never emptied during our stay.The house itself is spacious and has some good facilities. The kitchen and bathrooms are modern and well equipped, the showers have excellent pressure however could have been cleaner (bath and shower drains were dirty) The boiler worked well. However, much of the carpeting is heavily stained and really needs replacing, while the kitchen flooring is also in poor condition. The paintwork is marked and chipped particularly in the hallway and stairs. The conservatory is large and pleasant but the old single-glazed windows were extremely dirty, both inside and out and the conservatory furniture has collapsed seating.The information provided in the property was also badly out of date. The advertised Wi-Fi password did not work because the router had apparently been replaced, leaving us to work out the correct details ourselves.We were also unhappy with the security-deposit arrangements proposed by Island Holiday Homes. ( who we hadn’t booked with) Their terms appeared unnecessarily onerous, requiring guests to identify and report any damage or problems within 48 hours. (The potential credit card deduction was unlimited)In summary, Gate House has great potential and a fantastic location, but the property currently suffers from a significant lack of maintenance and attention to detail. We would consider staying again because of the location, but only if these issues were properly.

We had a wonderful week at The Gate House in Bembridge. The location couldn’t be better — just a short stroll to the beach, which became our morning ritual, and close enough to Bembridge’s little bakery for fresh pastries and bread each day. It’s a perfect base for exploring the coastal paths too; some of the most beautiful walks on the island start right from the doorstep. The house itself is comfortable and peaceful, and the whole stay felt easy and restorative. We’d happily return.
