  Linda Cottage provides everything to support a lovely holiday in this quiet village on the island.

  From the moment we walked down the path surrounded by the spring blooming Clematis and into the cozy warm cottage our stay was made perfect. I am a regular customer of Sykes Cottages renting their holiday let’s 3 or 4 times a year and can definitely recommend the cottage. It has everything you would expect with the added benefit of a double lower bunk bed that can prove really useful for families of 5. In addition there is a very well stocked reasonably priced convenience store open until 9pm in the evening that is located less than 1 minute walk and a friendly cozy pub just 10 minutes walk away… what more could you ask for. The Village Inn at Bembridge is a must, make sure of an early visit during your holiday as you will definitely want to return there! The friendly owners of Linda Cottage made us welcome from the very start and we’re kind enough to post a flask I had foolishly left behind… nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely consider booking this cottage in the lovely village of St Helens when we next visit the IoW….

  I had a wonderful break at Linda Cottage.

  It is a very comfortable property with everything you could need in it. I had some contact with the owner via text and she was ever so helpful without being intrusive. The village of St Helen’s is quiet but that was exactly what I wanted. Even so, it had a well stocked shop with post office, a nice pub, a nice couple of restaurants and an amazing second hand/rare bookshop. And it is within walking distance of the sea which I loved! I cannot recommend it highly enough especially to people travelling on their own, in a couple or a small group/family. I remember reading others say that the staircase is quite narrow and that I would agree with - I would imagine some people would struggle with it, especially getting luggage up to the bedrooms. I also think that a family of 4 might find the lounge a bit small. And anyone sleeping in the main bedroom might get disturbed by the shop being stocked up first thing in the morning. But these are very minor points, none of which took anything away from a lovely holiday.

  We had a fantastic Christmas break at Linda Cottage.

  The team at Sykes were really helpful when we made the booking, checking out a couple of queries we had about the property with the owner and getting back to us promptly. Suzanne was the perfect host, arranging for the cottage to be decorated for Christmas and leaving us some delicious, and very welcome treats! She was in touch throughout our stay, checking in with us to make sure we were happy with everything. The cottage itself was charming - cosy, spotlessly clean, warm and beautifully decorated and furnished. It was really well equipped with everything we needed to self cater. The position of the cottage is fabulous for walking, with lovely beaches at St Helens, Seaview and Bembridge on the doorstep. Our dogs loved the daily walks and we appreciated being able to bring both of them. We cannot recommend this beautiful home highly enough, perfect for couples or up to 5 people, and hope to be able to return soon.

  As a family of 8 we were let down on another property we had booked elsewhere 4 days before our arrival so i was chuffed to bits to get this house, and what a blessing in disguise.

  Our ages ranged from 28 to 89 and we had a fantastic time at Byewater. Sitting on the enormous decking looking out on the estuary watching the dog play and one of our party paddle boarding in the sunshine was the highlight. The front room is amazing with large bifold doors that open up to look out to the decking and back garden and has plenty of sofas and recliner chairs. Some parts of the house are a little tired and could do with freshening up. The beds are very comfortable and clean. A proper information book with things like rubbish procedures and if we were able to use the out buildings would have been nice, but i don't think the house has been rented out for long. This did not stop us from enjoying what could be an amazing holiday home though, and we all said we'd definitely stay there again. Also it's literally 4 mins drive from Fishbourne ferry terminal.

  We had a fabulous week at Byewater.

  The location is stunning. Our group was 7 adults & 2 dogs - and we had plenty of space without feeling cramped. The house is well set out, with the bedrooms being separate from the kitchen & dining / living area. Plenty of parking space (though the drive down is steep!). The back of the house opens onto a large deck overlooking the creek. It is just fantastic. Red squirrels were daily visitors on the deck - easily persuaded to stop & eat the peanuts that Chris had left. Communication with Chris was great. We left a couple of mentions in the maintenance book - such a good idea to be able to note down any small issues as they arise. It was our first family holiday all together & we couldn't have stayed anywhere more wonderful. Thank you to Chris & his team. We would love to return.
