Guests say

The Sanctuary is a charming, characterful cottage in a peaceful village setting, praised for its beautiful gardens, spacious interiors, and especially its large heated outdoor pool. Guests consistently highlight the welcoming and helpful hosts, as well as the relaxing atmosphere and unique period features. While the property’s historic quirks, such as dated plumbing and lack of modern showers, are noted, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, making it an ideal base for exploring Kent or enjoying tranquil days at home.

Guests describe the house and grounds as well-kept and tidy, with no significant complaints about cleanliness. The property is presented as clean and well-maintained, though some mention the age of the plumbing.

The location is highly praised for its peaceful village feel, proximity to Ashford for amenities, and easy access to Kent attractions and London via train.

The beds are repeatedly described as extremely comfortable, and the house is spacious and relaxing. Some guests mention issues with regulating room temperature and noise from heating pipes, but overall comfort is rated highly.

The standout feature is the heated outdoor pool, which guests love. The house is well-equipped with quality appliances and a snooker table. However, several reviews mention dated bathrooms, low water pressure, and a lack of modern showers as drawbacks.

The hosts are frequently described as welcoming, friendly, and attentive, going out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. While guests mention thoughtful gestures and helpfulness, please note that specific gifts or experiences are not guaranteed.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Santury. Tony and Helen the managers were really friendly and helpful and would do anything to make your stay comfortable. The house itself is mock tudor and has a lovely atmosphere. There are a few plumbing issues to be sorted out bu Tony iis aware of them. The large swimming pool was a real treat especially in the recent hot weather. One of our foster daughters loves animals so really enjoyed the horses and cats. Helen also allowed her to help with walking her sausage dogs which she loved. We hope one day to return. Highly reccommended.

This is a great find, with the biggest draw being the private outdoor pool! The house itself is lovely too - historic and spacious, with enough room to sleep 5 people comfortably. It's located close enough to Ashford for supermarket trips etc, but far enough away to feel peaceful and enjoy village life too. I can't speak highly enough of the care and attention of the on site managers Tony & Helen, who were both welcoming & helpful, without being in your face (seeing as they live in the property on the same site, but with their own garden and pool, so there's no need to share! They also have lots of furry friends if you're an animal lover, and they'll happily let you have a fuss of them. The grounds are fab, and the pool/pool house area were the highlight for us. There's shade, loungers, tables and chairs and everything you need to relax poolside all day, there are even toilets in the pool house to save a walk back to the house. We enjoyed every minute of our stay, and the only slight negatives are kind of out of the control of the managers, as we found it difficult to get showered properly due to low water pressure, but there were restrictions from the water company at the time, along with a hosepipe ban due yo the drought conditions. A walk-in shower would also be ideal for anyone with mobity issues, who may struggle to get into the bath for an 'over bath' type shower. Only other improvements could be a Smart TV so you can relax in the evening with your own streaming log ins, but there were lots of DVDs available, and terrestrial telly, and we were mostly enjoying the garden til late on anyway. All in all, can't wait to come back for another visit! Thanks again Tony & Helen for a lovely relaxing stay at your beautiful place!
