It’s located at the top of the White Cliffs in St Margarets Bay. It is an ideal property to use as a base to explore the sights and attractions of the local area.
The beach, just 350 yards away, nestles beneath the cliffs, in a picturesque and sheltered bay. At low tide it is perfect for rock pooling and crabbing, and the Coastguard Pub on the beach is a welcome stop to enjoy a meal and local draught beer.
The area is a walkers’ paradise with long walks along the cliffs. You can explore the South Foreland Lighthouse, where you can stop for a delicious cream tea, or walk to Kingsdown and visit the Zetland Arms pub on the beach.
Opposite the cottage is Pines Gardens, a lovely 6 acre organic garden with a lake, a poetry path and children’s trail, along with an organic kitchen garden. The award winning tea rooms are worth a visit for a light lunch or tea with divine cakes.
The apartment has a bright and modern open plan living space and two bedrooms, one double and one single with a trundle bed under. The courtyard to the front to this St Margarets Bay apartment is a peaceful spot to sit and relax and listen to the birdsong and overlooks Pine Gardens.

The cottage would benefit from ventilation in the bathroom as steam following a shower caused the cottage to feel damp The duvet cover in the bedroom was stained with oil.

We didn't enjoy our stay at Headland, unfortunately. The property is in need of attention, specifically regarding damp and mould, which is noticeable throughout. We were only there for a short stay (2 nights, though planned 3 initially and left early), and we had all doors and windows open whenever we were in the property to try and air out the smell of damp, but were unable to. There is also visible mould on bedroom walls and overall, this impacted our ability to enjoy the property. The general cleanlines was also not great - the kitchen was clean, but there was quite a lot of dust around the living area, and clumps of dust hanging on the bottoms of the doors. The acces road is also unmade and, at times, quite severe, so particularly low cars (like ours!) will scrape. I feel this should have been made clear before booking. All in all, a bit of a shame as the location is beautiful, with easy acces to the beach or to the cliffs, but needs some work to make it a pleasant base.
