With views across the Northward Hill rspb Nature Reserve, a converted barn has been reborn as charming cottages with 120 acres of farmland adjacent to the heronry, the largest in the UK. You may also be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the local barn owls, buzzards, egrets and the other abundant wildlife. In a quiet rural location yet only 8 miles from Rochester with a wide range of amenities, famous for its connections with Charles Dickens, or the cathedral city of Canterbury. The village of High Halstow is approximately 2 miles away and has a pub serving food, post office and grocery store. A perfect base for exploring Kent, the Garden of England and reaching London from Ebbsfleet for the high speed link. Ideal as a base for The O2, Greenwich Park, Westfield and Bluewater Shopping Centre. Golf nearby, varied cycle routes and fishing for trout in the owner’s reservoir (additional charge applies). There are free range chickens, geese and ducks on-site and opportunities to enjoy the blossoms and sample the fruits in season. A cosy cottage in a quiet location. Lovely outdoor area- plenty of room for our son to play in. All amenities in the cottage that you require. There was no welcome pack as advertised though…The only other negative was the cleanliness of the cottage. We had to clean the fridge before filling as there were visible food crumbs and some of plates/ cutlery were dirty too. Also underneath and behind the beds were thick with dust and cobwebs so had to clean there as well. Great to visit Rochester and its castle. We did have to venture further out to see other places. Maybe some info about the local area could have been added in the cottage.

We had a very comfortable stay. It was like a home away from home. Setting was wonderful and very peaceful. Owners are very good and supplies of fresh fruit was nice bonus. Weather was hot and the building holds the heat. Would be lovely in the winter we imagine. Beds were extremely comfortable and fans provided much appreciated. Was lovely to relax in garden at end of day. Would be lovely for children. Sunsets delightful. Not as remote as we were led to believe by some of previous reviews. Road was good and parking likewise.
