Apple Tree Cottage in Chichester is praised for its cosy charm, proximity to the beach, and historical character. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, spacious garden, and the occasional complimentary wine and biscuits. While some find the cottage's antique furniture and spiral staircase endearing, others note comfort and maintenance issues.
Several guests have raised concerns about cleanliness, mentioning unclean floors, dusty surfaces, and the same towels being used for many years. One detailed complaint included photographic evidence of inadequate cleaning, suggesting a need for a more thorough approach.
The cottage's location is highly praised for its proximity to the beach, local amenities, and a nearby pub. Guests enjoy the easy access to beautiful walks and the convenience of nearby shops and eateries.
Guests have mixed feelings about comfort; some find the beds and furniture cosy, while others report them as uncomfortable or in need of an update. The steep spiral staircase and low ceilings are noted as part of the cottage's rustic charm but may pose challenges for some.
The cottage is appreciated for being well-equipped, with a good-sized fridge and powerful shower. However, there are reports of maintenance issues such as a slow-draining shower and worn-out furniture. The garden is enjoyed but noted to need TLC and better security for pets.
Guests mention thoughtful touches like complimentary wine and biscuits, which are well-received. However, as these gifts are not consistently referenced in all reviews, it is politely noted that such gestures are not guaranteed for every stay.

Apple Tree Cottage was the perfect winter holiday home for our family of 7 (from 3 to 80) to celebrate a 50th birthday. The cottage is warm, comfortable, and well equipped. It is full of character and charm with antique furniture and interesting pictures. We had brought lots of logs with us and enjoyed splendid log fires in the inglenook. We cooked for ourselves and the only time we went out was to walk along West Wittering beach in the winter sun. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

A lovely cottage comfortable and well equipped. Lovely fire place. We celebrated New Year here quietly. . It was good for this.Kitchen very well equipped. However for my 80 year old mum the beds were too high , nothing wrong with the cottage though, just was a shame but she has very restricted mobility. The downstairs bathroom helped. Only quibble was the bins were completely full outside when we arrived so we had to take all our rubbish to the tip. Just a note if you are hiring over Christmas check the bins are empty before next group come along.

Gorgeous cottage with loads of quirky and original features. We loved our stay here and would love to come back sometime. The stairs are original and very narrow and uneven, so if you have any older or disabled people in your party, this could be an issue for them as it was for us unfortunately. We had seen the description re the stairs, but hadn't expected them to be so steep/narrow. There are also some very low beams and doors, which all adds to the cottages character but could be an issue for older visitors. We got round this (after a head bump!) by putting up some Christmas bunting! As stated in the description - the garden is not secure and both of our dogs could have easily got out. A lovely spacious cottage with lots of history to it, and very close to a wonderful beach.
