As three retired adults spending Christmas week in the Bull Pen, we enjoyed it so much that we hope to repeat the experience next Christmas. The property is well set out and well equipped, with each bedroom having its own ensuite bathroom. The central heating uses a ground source system, so was constant and very warm. TV Freeview reception was excellent. The living room sofas and armchairs were very comfortable. Having the kitchen, dining table and living area all open plan proved ideal for social sharing of everyday activities.A large fridge freezer was helpful for our Christmas supplies and the full sized dishwasher worked very effectively. We were pleased to find that a large decorated Christmas tree with lights had been set up for us.The location is attractive, with fields and low hills around. The owner lives in the nearby farmhouse and there are two other holiday properties adjacent, so altthough the Bull Pen is quiet it is not isolated. The parish church of Compton is just a few minutes walk away (and we saw it was well attended on Christmas Day) and there is a village shop/tea shop very near too. The city of Chichester is about 25 minutes easy drive and the road was never busy with traffic. Emsworth is also worth a visit. Two of us came from the Chichester direction and had no problem finding the location, but one of us came from west London via the A3. The directions supplied need to be clearer about leaving the A3 near Petersfield as finding the connection to the B2146 road was not easy. It would be helpful to know what signposts to look for. Once on that B road the directions were fine.So a very good place for a winter break - and no doubt for a summer stay too, with a large lawn and patio.
