Guests say

The Old Granary is a well-received cottage offering a peaceful setting and comfortable accommodation. Guests appreciate its cleanliness, the relaxing and reviving atmosphere, and its proximity to local amenities and attractions. The rustic charm and helpful owners add to the positive experience, though some guests noted the kitchen's size and lack of certain amenities.

Guests consistently mention that the property is very clean throughout, indicating high standards of cleanliness.

The location is praised for being peaceful and within easy reach of the coast, National Trust properties, and good walking areas, though the closure of the local pub was a minor drawback for one guest.

The majority of guests found the cottage comfortable, especially the living room and seating areas. However, one guest found the bed too firm, suggesting comfort may be subjective.

Facilities are generally seen as good, with a well-appointed cottage and excellent shower. However, some guests felt the kitchen was too basic and compact, and one noted the absence of heating in the bathroom.

While guests did not consistently mention gifts, one guest noted the absence of a welcome basket, which is not guaranteed. Due to the lack of sufficient references, a score cannot be provided.

About this property

Nestled just outside the village of West Chiltington, amidst the rolling scenery of Sussex, is this charming dwelling, The Old Granary. Carefully refurbished to a high standard, this cottage has been sympathetically designed to accentuate the building’s original purpose as a grain store, providing a romantic escape for those seeking a real country living experience. As you enter your new-home-from-home, you’ll immediately notice the beautiful, exposed beams throughout, emphasising the age of the property. The kitchen and dining area are well-appointed with all the mod cons required for a short break, including a hob, microwave, fridge with freezer box and even a dishwasher, so you won’t have to lift a finger when it comes to washing up! Wind your way to the first floor, home to a spacious living room where you will be wowed by the high vaulted ceiling and stylish log burner at the end of the room, while there is also a sumptuous sofa perfect for snuggling down after a long day exploring the countryside. As the night rolls in, head back downstairs to the bedroom, featuring a king-size bed and ample storage space for your personal items. Wake up to a refreshing rinse in the contemporary shower room, appointed with a walk-in shower and heated towel rail. For a 5 star property little things were wrong eg not prepared for such low ceiling/beams in kitchen area: no welcome basket!! (Unusual): no tea towels: no heating in the bathroom. Upstairs lovely once heated up. Cleanliness and facilities very good. Tiny kitchen area - fine for breakfast, but dinners bit of a mission. All issues manageable, but as I said, disappointing.

Very clean throughout. The main living space is on the first floor with log burner and comfortable seating. The bedroom, dining area, kitchen, and bathroom with excellent shower, are on the ground floor. It’s an ideal property from which to explore West Sussex and the south coast. The owners were very helpful and welcoming and I fully enjoyed my visit.

Has a lovely upstairs living area in a lovely rustic style. This property is a great base to explore the surrounding area with many places of interest, from coast to countryside, and easily reachable within an hour or less travelling time. Also lots of pubs etc with good eating options within a ten mile radius.
