Time the trip right, and many folk clubs and local festivals are available as part of their flourishing arts scene. Jump in the car and travel to St Ives (8 miles) for a meander around their world-renowned galleries, or venture to Land’s End for natural splendour and a shopping spree at the West Country Shopping Village (10 miles).
