In the heart of Mousehole, one of Cornwall's prettiest villages, 200 yards from the pub, shops and harbour is Mural Cottage. This quirky, split-level, 18th cent., terraced cottage is a Grade II listed former fisherman’s cottage. Entering on the ground floor, the cosy sitting room features a fun mural scene of Mousehole’s past. Also on the ground floor is a pretty single bedroom. On the lower ground floor, you'll find the large fitted kitchen with dining area, a bathroom and additional cloakroom. From the hall, steep stairs lead to the second floor and two more bedrooms, both with window seats for taking in the view – a king size double and one with two singles, which has a view of the sea over rooftops.
Outside you can load and unload the car before parking in the car park, 200 yards away. Mural Cottage is perfectly placed for exploring Mousehole (pronounced 'Mouzzle' locally), which has a selection of shops and good places to eat around its historic harbour. Further afield, it’s worth spending a day exploring Penzance and spectacular St Michaels Mount, or take in a show at the internationally renowned Minack Theatre, a superb open air venue perched high on the cliffs above stunning Porthcurno.
A delightful fishing village nestled on a hillside and spilling down to the shore. The picturesque harbour, surrounded by its maze of winding narrow streets, draws visitors from miles around, while in the distance St Michael's Mount stands proudly in the centre of Mounts Bay.

A beautiful cottage offering everything we could need. Stairs up and down took some getting used to and could deter some clients whose mobility was not good. But as 2 fit octogenarians we coped well. Perfect location just 2 mins from Mousehole harbour. We loved it. No complaints whatsoever.

A couple of things to note - you sleep on the top floor and the toilet is on the ground floor. This meant 2 flights of stairs if you needed the loo in the night. Because itâs split over levels itâs not really suitable for young children, we had to give ours a bucket to use in the night. Steps at the bottom of the steep stairs into the kitchen are rough stone - not suitable for very young children / crawlers. We brought a blackout blind for kids room luckily as the curtains arenât blackout. The freezer has a sign on to say close firmly, when we arrived it was completely frozen over and then leaked all over the floor. Could do with sorting out properly. The shower attachment was broken and you need to be careful to close the screen properly otherwise you get a puddle! Access is very tricky for loading and unloading. Bear in mind that there are several cottages on the lane that all check in and out at the same time and itâs extremely tight. We spoke to a local about parking - as parking is in fact £12 a day, not £5 as told in the booking info. We were lucky to manage to park on The Parade and walk to the cottage every day, but it is just the luck of the draw and the only place to park for free. There isnât a lot in Mousehole - we ate at the Ship Inn, and The Old Coastguard. Both very good. No shop that we could find but Penzance has everything you need and we did a Tesco Click & Collect on way in. We absolutely love Cornwall and had a fabulous week.

This was highly significant to the holiday home and travelling there. We have stayed before at this cottage and so know the area. In reality a tiny lane access in, and out was not suitable. There was complete stoppage as many vehicles are oversized for the narrow road. Information to be found online entitled carnage on Cornwall news. Whilst the work could not be avoided, Rentals should be given info, many family wider cars were not suitable. We saw damages to some larger vehicles. Other comments, bed was uncomfortable compared to 2 years ago, late check published 5pm, very late for most people and to get back for shopping, clearer instructions for shower, it was very hot water and intermittent so was dangerous. Mural Cottage is however a Really nice location, easy walk to shops and harbour, fantastic views from back bedroom, good sized accusation. But consideration if this is a good Accessible location to site from, is a major consideration, if further works closing main road are to occur. We would not book in this knowledge.
