Large Holiday Homes In Mousehole

Holiday Cottages in Mousehole

Mousehole (pronounced Mowzal) is one of Cornwall's most picturesque and charming fishing villages. This harbour-side location is a foodie heaven and local dishes often take inspiration from the sea, with shellfish in abundance.

Beautiful views over the harbour and the pretty fishing boats transport you back to a different, slower-paced time. Granite fishermen cottages line the narrow roads and invigorating walks in the surrounding countryside take in the coastal views.

We can't deny that there's a wonderful world out there - a world of wonderful views, incredible adventures and spectacular holiday breaks. But, would you like to know a secret? You don't have to go abroad to find them all. Holiday cottages in the UK are the trick to making your wildest holiday dreams come true. Whether you want the quaint quiet of a roaring log fire, the sun-soaked luxury of a seaside lodge or the downright decadence of a back-garden golf course, you're only one click away.

What our customers say about their holidays

  • Amanda - Verified booking

Mural cottage is charming, has excellent facilities and was very clean on arrival.

Thanks for the cake, milk and tea bags. However, both toilets & bathroom are on the lower ground floor, down a steep flight of steps. Warning, there are three concrete steps for anyone with walking difficulties/small children. Be careful at night when needing to use the toilet. Parking is diabolical. Mousehole is not car friendly and we were unable to park near the cottage to unpack/repack...or take shopping in due to building work one end (near gallery) and cars parked at the other end of the road. Both North and South Harbour car parks fill up very quickly and cost £5 for 24 hours. The other carpark next to the Old Coastguard. is £11 and again, at the time of our stay was full when we came back from days out. Mousehole has very little in the way of shops. No supermarket or post office. There are a few quirky gift shops and two rather expensive delicatessens. Watch out for the traffic as the roads are narrow with no pavements. The Harbour itself is quaint, with clean sandy beaches & several ice cream shops. The Ship pub is a friendly place and a meal at The Old Coastguard delicious with a fantastic view. It's worth going off the beaten track to see The Merry Maidens; a stone circle.St Ives, Penzance & Lands End are obviously maijor tourist areas and very popular. Sennen, slightly north of Lands End has a beautiful beach & a cafe serving fabulous fish & chips. The nearest supermarkets are on the outskirts of Penzance. Unfortunately we didn't realise how popular Mousehole was, and should have done our homework in advance regarding parking & the amenities.

Great location with fantastic views down over Mousehole harbour and bay area and to St Michaels Mount circa 3 miles distant. Clever modern design with an excellent light and airy open plan living space on three levels descending from kitchen to dining area to living area with a massive floor to ceiling picture window providing panoramic views. The master bedroom and two other bedrooms also have the same have amazing panoramic views over the sea and harbour. Access to the property is down Love Lane a narrow 'no through road' that can be reached without having to pass through the constricted roads of Mousehole. The lane was quite overgrown when we arrived with the wing mirrors on both sides pushing aside foliage for the full 200m to the property but it was cut back during our visit making for a less unnerving experience. Arriving at the property there is a steep driveway down to a parking area solely for the property with room for at least three cars comfortably. Thankfully there is room to turn around. Given the challenging of finding parking in Mousehole this is a major plus for the property. Overall this has to be one of the best rental properties in Mousehole for comfort, ease of access and the fantastic position and views.

I think the issue with parking really does need to be made more apparent.

We were travelling with a toddler and new baby and on occasions, the only parking spot in the entire village was on entry - a one and a half mile walk away! I appreciate things are unusual this year and that there are a lot more tourists taking up valuable parking places but this made things very difficult for us and quite frankly, miserable. Carrying a new baby, getting a toddler to walk a mile and a half with three bags of shopping from a supermarket is just horrendous. Add to this, there's a general air of 'dislike' of tourists in the village - probably from a fear of a spike in Covid cases - which showed itself as abrupt, rudeness from many business owners (not all). I've watched as other tourists have been spoken to rudely, fingers jabbed at them by residents just because they mentioned the parking situation! Yes, again I appreciate their frustrations but if they want money into their local economy, they have to learn to treat their visitors with more respect. Overall, the combined situation made this a challenging and disappointing holiday.

The cottage is in a great location.

Parking was not an issue for us, as we dropped off and parked in the harbour car park. Cottage now needs a good refit and overhaul. Comments in other reviews have referred to various issues for well over 2 years, and they now could do with being fixed. Damp on the staircase, plus damp musty smells. No hot water in the kitchen. The shower and bathroom needs updating. The constant running cold water tap in the bedroom was very annoying. Generally, the cottage is tired and could do with modernising, with new furniture, beds, and TV. The potpourri was mouldy and lots of hairs were found in the bath when we arrived, along with various cobwebs and dust. if I had visited in the peak holiday period, I do not believe this location offers value for your money, but as I visited out of peak season the price was more acceptable. Summing up, great location, but now it is time to freshen the cottage up, in readiness for the 2024 season

We stayed at kemyel Mill House from 13th-20th September 2024 Beautiful country side building which could be stunning. Let down by the cleanliness and neglect (cleaner came in after complaining but we unfortunately we found more after she had left). Mold around bath, dust, dirt and cobwebbs everywhere, dirty freezer, smelly fridge, dirty and stained floors etc. Could do with new sofa's. The beds are lovely and comfortable although slats are not fixed on single beds. Garden table unusable as needs a lot of tlc and has plants growing out of it. The "stunning 360 summerhouse" as advertised is dangerous and also unusable as wood is rotting and is covered in green mildew and does not turn. We complained twice during our stay regarding the garden furniture but had NO response at all regarding this. It is such a shame because this is really a beautiful but neglected property.
