Guests say

Shamal is a well-received holiday cottage in Carbis Bay, Cornwall, praised for its high standard of decor, furnishings, and equipment. Guests have enjoyed the stunning views, comfortable accommodation, and the property's proximity to local amenities and the beach. While some minor issues were noted, the overall experience has been positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Most guests found Shamal to be clean and well-maintained, though a few mentioned areas with dust and a mouldy en-suite shower. The presence of sand in the shoe rack upon arrival was also noted. These instances suggest room for improvement in cleaning standards.

The location is highly praised for its great views of Carbis Bay, proximity to the beach, and local amenities. The coastal walk to St Ives was also appreciated, making the location almost ideal for guests.

Guests have found the property to be comfortable, with special mentions of the views from the living area and the quality of the beds. However, some guests reported the property being cold at times and an early check-out time, which slightly affected the comfort level.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the kitchen equipment. However, reports of non-working TVs, a broken bin, and issues with doors and lights indicate that maintenance could be better addressed to ensure a top-notch experience.

While guests have had positive experiences, there is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, it is not possible to assess this category based on the reviews provided.

The living space (first and second floors) is very comfortable, well equipped and a fantastic place to spend time relaxing. However, the ground floor felt and smelled damp and was much colder than the rest of the house. After spending time in the lounge, dining area, kitchen and 'playroom', we didn't really want to go to bed as this issue meant that the bedrooms (despite being tastefully decorated) were not welcoming.

There were a few chipped pieces of crockery but as there were only 2 of us it wasn’t an issue. The bedrooms were great with very comfortable beds, in the en-suite bedroom there were 2 hairdryers of which 1 didn’t work. The bulb needs replacing above the mirror in the family bathroom though this may have been done now. The open plan kitchen/lounge is very spacious and has a relaxing feel to it, the balcony was good to sit out in the evening. I would stay at shamal again.

Clean & well maintained. Great location. Shame that the trees on the drive were overgrown which blocked the sea view. Lots of chips in cups & crockery. After staying next door for the last couple of years for the same price, we missed the slippers & robes & welcome pack
