What our customers say about their holidays

  • Testimonial - Verified booking

"Probably the best view we've ever had of any holiday villa we've stayed at, this includes the south of France, lake district, Devon, Germany etc.

Just amazing! The house was very comfortable and had some little touches that we really loved - binoculars, really well equipped kitchen and lots of mugs, so you don't constantly have to wash up. The large fridge freezer was great and made sure we enjoyed the best of the local produce. The beds were all really comfortable and the linen good so we all slept really well. Carbis Bay is a great location, really quiet being residentail but a short walk to St Ives for all the hustle and bustle, perfect. Porthmeor beach cafe - we saw two seals swimming past whilst eating some of the best tapas and fish I've ever had . Magical! The Queens hotel St Ives - we pitched up on a rainy night and had some wonderful food, check out the menu it is just superb. And then to top it of they had an open mic night, a great time for everyone. Godolphin - we went for the bluebells and spent a great time at the property having a tour of the house and enjoying the local arts and crafts at the food and crafts fair.Glendurgan gardens - beautiful and with a great history.Clamoring over the rocks at Godrevy point and again we were joined by a seal for just a few minutes but they were very special moments. We always find Cornwall a special pace but this property made sure we could make the most of out time, even if just walking down to the beach and watching the waves roll in." Beautiful house in a beautiful location.

Wonderful views and a few minutes walk to station where you can get the train into St Ives. It is quite a hilly area but that in turn gives you the sea view spectacularly. Great parking space. We have stayed in St Ives and Carbis Bay many times but our first time at Cornerways. Yes we were very comfortable and had what we needed for a great stay however I would like to reiterate a few things that previous clients have said in reviews. The bed mattress and pillows in the main bedroom are uncomfortable and I certainly didn’t sleep well. There is a dressing table in that room but no stool to sit on? The family member sleeping in the twin room was unable to open the patio door, that is the only ventilation to that room, the lock is jammed solid and we tried from inside and out with no luck, fault reported. Also the fridge although fitted integrally under the worktop, it is loose and tips toward every time you open it and you really need to check that the door is shut, fault reported - I see in reviews this was reported over 12 months ago but it’s still the same. The positives really outweighed these negatives but I think the main bedroom bed needs addressing as I couldn’t sheep in that bed again!! Thank you and we will certainly book again .

    Our third visit to Cornerways.

A great house in an ideal location however we did notice a couple of things slipping this time. The underfloor heating in the downstairs wet room had been set to 45° and a sign put over the controls instructing us not to change it. The room was unbearably hot and so we had to lower the temperature. I don’t understand the instruction not to vary the temperature in a house we’ve paid for, particularly when the room had been left feeling like a furnace and therefore otherwise totally unusable. There was a very poor selection of glasses with only two of most types. Strange in a house sleeping six. Fortunately lots of wine glasses though! Teaspoons were also in short supply. Other than that though, the house is very well equipped with all you could want and more. On the whole, Cornerways is very comfortable with lovely views from the upstairs bedrooms out to St Ives and across the bay to Godrevy. It is in a quiet location and within easy reach of Carbis Bay beach and some lovely coastal footpaths. The train station is also just a few minutes walk away giving good access into St Ives for non-drivers.

Firstly, the negatives: Dishwasher needs replacing - its cleaning is poor.

Some mugs were found filthy on arrival - glasses were dirty too and all needed re-washing. Central heating is too high and is difficult to control (thermostat had little effect). Cinema room was like a sauna. Seating in cinema room is also very uncomfortable. Duvets on beds are too warm. Back garden is not fully enclosed. Our dog found a gap in the hedge and escaped - luckily the neighbours were there and alerted us. Internet-only TV has very poor signal so some channels are unwatchable or regularly drop out. Far fewer toiletries provided than in previous years. Coffee table appeared dirty but was actually marked by ring-stains/heat. Now the positives: Excellent location, easy parking and easy access to station to get into St Ives in minutes. Lovely views. Spacious and very well-equipped house. Nicely furnished. Comfortable beds (ignoring the hot duvets). Comfortable sofas. Throws for dogs are a nice touch. Cleaning generally very good (although some hairs found on downstairs shower room floor and debris on upstairs en-suite floor). Friendly neighbours.
