Guests have praised The Old Lace Shop for its excellent location, comfort, and range of facilities, making it feel like a home away from home. While some minor issues were noted with cleanliness and maintenance, the quick response to concerns and the property's overall charm and convenience have left a positive impression, with many looking forward to returning.
The property was generally clean, but some guests noted dust and mould in places. The end-of-holiday cleaning may need more attention to detail.
The location is highly praised for being close to the beach and local amenities, with friendly locals and a variety of dining options within walking distance.
Guests found the property spacious and comfortable, with high-quality bedding and towels. The presence of a wet room and off-road parking added to the comfort.
The property is well-equipped with facilities like an iron, ironing board, and coffee machine. However, some maintenance issues were reported, such as a broken toilet seat and a rusty radiator.
While guests appreciated the facilities, there was no mention of welcome gifts, and thus it cannot be guaranteed. The lack of a welcome pack was noted, but this does not affect the score as it is not a guaranteed amenity.

Beer is a small picturesque fishing village on the south Devon coast near Seaton. The shingle beach is very sheltered, backed by limestone cliffs and was once fertile smuggling territory, plus contraband was hidden in nearby caves, which are now a popular tourist attraction. Beer is situated on the stretch of Devon coastline, known as the Jurassic Coast, a designated World Heritage Site, and the village offers sloping streets lined with picturesque stone houses and cottages built on many different levels of the steep valley sides. There are a good range of shops, friendly cafes, restaurants and pubs in Beer, plus just outside the village is the popular Pecorama Gardens, which are perched on the hill overlooking Lyme Bay. Pecorama boasts the Beer Heights Light Railway and indoor model railway exhibition, along with a children's play area. Beer is a unique Devon fishing village and a great place to stay.

. The only things that let it down was the lack of a welcome pack when we arrived. A loaf of bread and 2 pints of milk go along way. The car park was absolutely pitch black, and there was items left in the dishwasher from previous occupants.

Easy parking and handy for shops with a short walk to the beach. Can highly recommend.

The property was spacious and included all of the expected facilities. The bedding and towels were all top notch. We had a broken toilet seat in the downstairs cloakroom which we reported and it was replaced within 24 hours. We had a great holiday so are reluctant to criticise but there are a couple of things we should mention. The wet room (which is the downstairs en-suite) is tired and in need of a refresh. Whilst the cottage was fairly clean, there were some shortcomings which we felt were mainly due to the end of holiday cleaners probably not having sufficient time to do a proper job. There was a lot of dust on the doors and skirting boards, and a fair amount of mould in the bathrooms plus the radiator in the wet room was very rusty. Finally, we think it would be very helpful if the access to the car park was mentioned in the description of the cottage as it is very narrow and because of car parking on the road opposite the cottage, can be difficult in anything larger than a medium size car. That said, we loved it and would certainly return.
