Holiday Cottages In Seaton

Seaton is a pretty little coastal town in South Devon. From hiking to history, it has everything you need for a classic British seaside holiday. To get the full experience of what Seaton has to offer, make sure to enjoy it from a cosy holiday cottage.

This town is bursting with history. It is situated in the middle of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, and you can find out all about this at Seaton Jurassic. The shingles beach is the perfect spot for a picnic, and you can also have a go at some watersports. To see more of the area, there are plenty of cycle trails and footpaths in all directions. Seaton Wetlands nature reserve is the ideal place for some bird watching and hopefully to see some wild flowers. Your cottage awaits you!

What our customers say about their holidays

  • Lesley - Verified booking

We had a lovely holiday in Beer.

Craft Cottage is in the village itself so it is an easy walk to the local shops, pubs, restaurants and beach. When we looked at the parking in the details before our holiday we thought it might be a bit of a pain having to walk down the road and unlock the gate every time, but it was easy to do and caused no problems. It was out of season, therefore the shops/restaurants were open for shorter hours or less days, but we didn't find this to be a problem. Because it was out of season, it was lovely and quiet. Everyone parks outside Craft cottage to visit the Village Store, which would be more annoying in high season as it would be busier. It is quite noisy outside in the mornings with deliveries to the shop and the school buses reversing into the bus stop. The cottage is very comfortable and had everything we needed. We weren't able to get the gas fire to light while we were there which was a little bit disappointing. There is central heating also which we were thankful for. We have a small dog who isn't able to walk very far. This meant that to reach any level grass for him to use for toileting, we had to go up to the cliff top car park. However, there are lovely views from up on the cliff so although it was a bit of a palaver, it was worth it! We would definitely visit again.

From the original contact with questions on the cottage with Sykes to the contact with the owners for the access, I have nothing but praise for this little gem of a property and the booking process.

The cottage was just as described and had everything you could possibly want and more. It was truly home from home, not the usual 'sterile' holiday let with only the bare basics to survive, there was an abundance of extras, books, DVDs, children's books, games. Plenty of glasses, crockery, children's bowls/plates, chairs outside, picnic bags, blankets etc etc etc. There are two huge bedrooms, with another really good size double and a cute single, (which was nabbed straight away by my grand daughter, with a huge teddy bear that she didn't want to leave behind !) With it being in the middle of the village, yes there was a little noise from the bus stop, but nothing major, but if you want a central position then there will be some traffic noise, but it's not a busy village with through traffic. It is truly a lovely traditional seaside village, with 3 pubs that offer good food, tea room/cafe, cocktail bar, fish and chip shop and a lovely restaurant, which also offers its full menu as a takeaway option if you cannot get booked, add to that the cafes on the beach and you will be well catered for. I would don't hesitate to come again, and hope to revisit in the future Thank you Craft Cottage for a lovely week with my family

The property was lovely, well maintained, very comfortable, and very clean inside.

Only three comments: 1) there is a big building site on the sea front in direct line between the property and the sea; this substantially diminishes the sea view (I imagine the owners may not be happy with the new development!), but while it is a building site, it would be helpful for this to be mentioned on the listing details as it would be important for those with special needs to know in advance; 2) I fully appreciate the difficulty with keeping the outside of a property clean with the number of seagulls present in the area! But the outside space was pretty much unusable because of the amount of bird droppings, not all of which seemed particularly recent. I know it's an inherent hazard of the location, but wonder if slightly more frequent cleans would be possible? 3) the blind for the sun light in the downstairs back bedroom does not fully close. It stops well short of the end of the run, and so it is not possible to keep light out in the early mornings. It would be good if this could be fixed. Overall though, we had a lovely week and would thoroughly recommend the property.

This is our 3rd time at the property which we absolutely love.

We even love watching the seagulls and their babies that are nesting in the buildings in front of the property. The only thing that spoilt it a bit this time is the building works on the front promenade which of course the property owners do not have any control over but feel should maybe be mentioned in the description. We love to sit on the balcony or in the lounge area with the doors open early morning but the noisy building works started at 8am continuing throughout the day did spoil the early morning peace and quiet. We also had a bit of difficulty locking the both balcony doors as the handles were quite stiff. I wouldn’t have been able to lock them if my husband hadn’t been there. Having said that we had a lovely week thank you, no doubt we will return, it is the one holiday property I would love to pick-up and transport home to live in myself.

Axe View is a lovely, large and comfortable new-ish house. The beds are so comfy and have very good quality bedding, there were plenty of good quality towels too. We were there to catch up with friends, who live near by. The house is a little way from the sea and amenities, but its a short drive to Seaton where there is plenty of parking. There were nice touches like games and books - we played Scrabble and Ker-plunk - great fun! We also enjoyed the cream tea, which was left for us. The kitchen area has all you could need for a few days away, though we didn't find the knives and forks etc straightway - they are in a hidden drawer under the hob! The outside seating area was used (though it was a bit cold) - the view from there is lovely. We all felt very refreshed after our weekend away - thank you.
