14a Courtenay Street is a well-liked cottage in Salcombe, Devon, praised for its central location, beautiful views, and overall cleanliness. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen and the property's proximity to local amenities. While some find the cottage cosy and welcoming, others note areas needing refurbishment and issues with dampness. The property's charm and convenience for short stays are frequently mentioned, with particular commendation for the helpfulness of the management team.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The property generally receives positive remarks for cleanliness, with several guests finding it spotless upon arrival. However, there are isolated complaints about specific areas such as a dirty fridge, mug, and patio, which slightly detract from the overall impression.

The cottage's location is highly praised for its centrality in Salcombe, proximity to the harbour, and convenience for exploring the town. The views are appreciated, although parking can be challenging, which is typical for the area.

Guests find the main bedroom and living areas comfortable, but several reviews highlight discomfort in the second bedroom, particularly for adults, and issues with a damp feeling and an uncomfortable mattress.

Facilities like the kitchen and bathrooms are well-regarded, but the property is noted to require updating in other areas. Maintenance issues such as dampness and the need for redecoration are mentioned, suggesting room for improvement.

There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as there are no mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate the level of consideration for guests' experiences.

The view was lovely and we would certainly like to return one day. Only minor niggle was that the rubbish was not collected and the details in the property about recycling at the Batson Creek car park should be amended as they no longer exist.

The only misnomer was the 'cottage' description...it is clearly an apartment. In escaping an air b n b next door to our home (a cottage with paper thin walls) we were anxious to book a quiet place. Could've kicked ourselves when we realised this was an apartment! Luckily we didn't have any neighbours during our week holiday and the whole place was blissfully quiet except for the seagulls (we're used to those!) The kitchen and equipment was new and clean, also both bathroom and shower-room were spotless and equipped with shaving/make up mirrors. The cushion and settees were a bit grubby but really it seemed obvious that things were gradually being replaced when they needed it...rather than wholesale waste all at once. The main bedroom was a little cold and damp feeling from condensation, so we kept the windows open when we were indoors to air it. We made the most of the little patio and made firm friends of the Robins in particular, who were very sociable and preferred to visit and feed when we were around, instead of us leaving food out for them. The views of the estuary and Snape's point are totally mesmerising. The property is at the top of a hill (not too bad a climb) and very close to both a play park if you have kids and Courtenay Park which has spectacular views of the estuary. It's pretty close to everything really, without being right in Fore Street and its associated noise. Perfect! We've visited Salcombe many times since the early 70s so know it quite well and rate this apartment as a good all-rounder.

Photographs don't do it justice. All the convenient mod cons and with a lovely homely feel and lots of lovely touches, quality of curtains, furniture, crockery etc. View from the terrace was magnificent and it was also lovely being in the sitting room with the doors open onto the terrace.
