This small and sweet, terraced fisherman’s cottage sits a stroll away from Salcombe town centre.
Renovated in 2017, Ginn Cottage provides couples and young families with a high standard of holiday accommodation set over three floors.
Step through a stable door into the cosy sitting room, which opens onto the dining area and character kitchen with Belfast sink. Everyone can spend time together here, winding down in the evening or before heading out for the day.
Narrow stairs wind up to the main double bedroom on the first floor, whilst further still, nestled in the second floor eaves, is a second delightful double, with glimpses over Batson Creek and its resident boats, and Snapes Point.
An immaculate family bathroom completes the accommodation inside, whilst leading from the kitchen (down and below the cottage) is a handy utility room. Here you can store boots or beach gear after a country hike or a sandy day spent beside the sea.
Outside is a little courtyard that has a bistro table with 2 chairs. A narrow stone path leads to a small, shaded decking, set beneath a pergola, complete with a table and 4 chairs, and a small garden with an olive tree and pretty shrubs. Settle here at the close of the day with a drink or two, and share the day’s stories.
Popular Island Street is just a 2 minute walk away, with it's boutique shops, Salcombe Gin distillery, bar and galleries. Within just 5-7 minutes’ walk is Salcombe centre, a popular town set within South Devon’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The adventurous can choose from a range of water sports, or why not take a leisurely day to relax on one of the beaches? Lace up your boots to wander the South West Coast Path or spend the day perusing the many gift shops, local galleries and independent shops.
With freshly caught fish, local produce and even an award-winning gin to sample, this town is a foodie’s delight.
A cosy and thoughtfully finished cottage from which to uncover this charming corner of Devon.

Salcombe is a popular destination for watersports enthusiasts, walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea. There are several pretty beaches within a short distance, including North Sands and South Sands, plus the coves East Portlemouth on the opposite side of the estuary, just a short passenger ferry ride away. Also on your doorstep is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, coasteering, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe, take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. A few small niggles like the âfeature fireplaceâ not working, the quality of the tv, the lack of storage space in the kitchen for food etc and the dirty utility area in the cellar with unusable ironing facilities. The main issues for us were the beds and the building work. The mattressâs were poor quality and very uncomfortable. The building work next door is nowhere near finished! We were told that they should be nearing the end of the main work but the house is covered in scaffolding and we were woken most days very early by chatting workmen right outside the window and a lot of noise. The work being carried out meant sitting in the garden not a pleasant experience, the view from the rear of the property ugly and the dirt and debris made access to the garden and utility area not ideal. The location of the cottage is fab with an easy walk into town and the co op just around the corner. We were blessed with unseasonably good weather so this made our holiday more bearable!

Had a great time. The only thing was the back gate/door was not attached so when we let dog out it was not secure, although there was gated garden it was across the alley. We would recommend to stay here and would stay here again.

The CoOp is close by for groceries etc, and it's an easy walk to the water. Some downsides: 1) There's no microwave. This is true to the listing, but who reads the details of the kitchen utilities? And seems a strange ommission nowadays. 2) The "feature fire" didn't work; I even tried changing the batteries in the remote. 3) And the TV didn't work, ditto re the remote. 4) When we arrived , the downstairs smelled strongly of bleach, and the wooden floor was wet - it had obviously only just been swabbed. And the windows had been left open (presumably related) so it was cold and unwelcoming. 5) A trivial thing, but annoying: there was only half a toilet roll left in the bathroom, whch felt like scrimping when it's so expensive to stay there. 6) We only used the first floor bedroom, and something else that felt like scrimping: the mattress was thin and uncomfortable. Spend the money on the beds, not Calvin Klein rugs! 7) There was a bit of damp and some mold on the bedroom wall. So overall: not a luxurious experience. Wouldn't stay there again. We weren't on holiday; our relatives live in Salcombe, and one was ill. We've stayed in other C&C cottages before, and they've been excellent.
