About this property

Enjoying an idyllic rural location in the village of Blythburgh near Southwold in Suffolk, Meadowsweet is a contemporary, detached holiday home, ideal for a family or a group of friends. A welcoming entrance hall invites visitors in and opens into an attractive sitting room which has a generous seating area, double doors opening onto the gardens and a feature stove-effect fire to take the chill off in the colder months. This is a room for all seasons and offers a truly welcoming space, perfect for gathering together and catching up on each other’s holiday news. The extensive kitchen/diner houses a fully fitted kitchen which comes complete with everything needed to whip up a culinary storm for your holiday party and when dinner is served, make your way to the stylish dining table which is all set up for long, lazy meals together. Feature tri-fold doors open onto the gardens helping to flood the space with light and makes alfresco dining even easier. A great alternative space is the study where there is a lovely day bed just waiting for you to curl up and read a book or chill out and watch some TV away from the hustle and bustle of the main house. When it’s time for bed, there are four delightful bedrooms to choose from with the master bedroom benefiting from a TV, so you don’t need to miss your favourite programme! The remaining bedrooms include a double, a twin and a single with a pull-out truckle bed. All are beautifully presented and offer a relaxing sanctuary after a tiring day. Wake up with a refreshing shower or soak in the bath, enjoy a quick coffee outside and hit the road; with so much to see and do, there’s no time to lose. Take a stroll into the charming village of Blythburgh within the Suffolk Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or nearby Southwold which has a beach, a pier and a lighthouse, or a short drive away is RSPB Minsmere. Other attractions include Yoxford Antiques Centre and Gardens, Shawsgate Vineyard, Framlingham Castle and Somerleyton Hall. Towns worth calling into while you’re in the area include Aldeburgh, Orford, Felixstowe and Halesworth. Spacious and contemporary, Meadowsweet is the perfect holiday venue.

Saxmundham is a small market town located on the River Fromus, in the heart of Suffolk’s Heritage Coast. The town is well serviced with independent shops, local museum, supermarkets and a train station, as well as art galleries, a weekly market and a farmers’ market. Situated so close to the coast, Saxmundham is a great base for a seaside holiday; within easy reach of Aldeburgh and Thorpeness, as well as Dunwich, Southwold and Walberswick, you could enjoy a different coastal location each day. Also close by is the inland market town Framlingham with beautiful historic architecture, a castle and an array of independent shops. South of the town there is the well known tourist destination of Sutton Hoo, an ancient Royal Anglo-Saxon burial site. With Ipswich an easy drive south, and Norwich an easy drive north, there’s so much to see and do in and around Saxmundham.

Bigger than it looks in the pictures. Everything we needed, though an instruction manual for the microwave would have been useful. Very quiet and peaceful. Watered the herbs and had fresh oregano in scrambled eggs. Handy for Southwold and Aldeburgh, Leiston Abbey is worth a visit. The downside was too many artificial flowers and the kettle needs a good descale.

I think there are a few issues that need sorting, some of which look to have been suggested before in the holiday book such as; the patio doors having hooks to stop them blowing back in any gusts of wind (when you have young children especially this is a concern they'll get their fingers trapped etc), when you turn the showers on the pressure is so high initially the head shoots up and soaks the bathrooms (although once you've wrangled it the shower pressure is nice), the shower doors don't close properly so they leak, and the bath has a constant slow trickle of water that you cannot stop. The tap in the utility has only a trickle of water coming out. Aside from those maintenance issues, I would highly recommend this property as it really is fantastic and close to so many wonderful places.

It was very well equipped and the fact you provided a cot, high chair and stair gate was a real bonus. We were very happy staying at Meadowsweet and would happily recommend to friends and family.
