Cobbler's Cottage in Pembridge is highly praised for its charm, cleanliness, and comprehensive amenities. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches, including a generous welcome hamper, and the property's character and comfort. The picturesque village location and beautiful gardens add to the delightful experience, despite some mentions of low beams and a low doorway.

The cottage receives consistent commendations for its cleanliness, with guests describing it as well-maintained and clean. There is, however, a single mention of having to rewash some kitchen items, which slightly impacts the score.

The location is celebrated for its beauty and convenience, situated in a heritage village with easy access to local attractions. Some guests noted heavy traffic and a nearby telegraph pole, but these were minor concerns compared to the overall positive feedback.

Guests find the cottage comfortable and cosy, with a well-maintained garden and efficient heating. The presence of low beams and a low doorway is noted, which may affect taller guests, but overall comfort is highly rated.

The cottage is praised for being well-equipped and thoughtfully decorated. There are a few isolated comments about maintenance issues, such as a wood burner ventilator and scratched pans, but these are exceptions in the otherwise positive feedback.

The thoughtfulness of the hosts is frequently mentioned, with guests delighted by the welcome hamper and other considerate touches. While these gifts are greatly appreciated, it's important to note that such offerings may vary and are not guaranteed.

About this property

This charming black and white Grade II listed semi-detached cottage is ideally situated in the picturesque village of Pembridge, ‘The Jewel in the Crown’ of north Herefordshire’s Black and White Village Trail. Perfect for a romantic retreat or a family holiday with a host of options for eating out, activities and walks within easy reach.

Cobbler’s Cottage is packed full of medieval charm and cosiness with original beamed walls and ceilings, an inglenook fireplace and warming wood burning stove. The pretty kitchen boasts a Belfast sink and bespoke units, and leads down a couple of steps to the more recently added garden room, a light and sunny space from where the well-established and mature cottage garden can be viewed and enjoyed. The inviting sitting room showcases the beautiful inglenook fireplace; and gnarly old beams create a quirky partition from the slightly raised dining area.

The original staircase leads from the sitting room up to a calming landing, furnished with a desk and easy chair, ideal for some quiet reading or catching up on some emails. Romantic bedroom one features a double bed, a pretty picture window and a television. Bedroom two is perfect for older children, with twin single beds and another television. The tasteful and fresh family bathroom is also upstairs and includes a shower over the bath. Outside, the pretty cottage garden is fully enclosed for our canine guests, and thoughtfully provides sun loungers, a rocking seat, dining furniture and a barbecue; not to mention a summer house!

The location of Cobbler's Cottage is enviable with plenty to enjoy without getting back in the car; Pembridge is a very special, quintessential English village, often described as ‘The Jewel in the Crown’ of north Herefordshire’s Black and White Village Trail. Have a drink or a traditional pub meal at the 15th century New Inn, where in fine weather you can spill out onto the historic 16th century market square. For finer dining, The Cider Barn restaurant is just up the road and never disappoints. Stock up on some seasonal local produce at the superb farm shop and cafe, or marvel at the clock workings within the 14th century bell tower of St Mary's church.

When you've exhausted all that Pembridge has to offer, many beautiful market towns including Ludlow and Hay-on-Wye are within easy reach. Set within a National Landscape area, there are plenty of fabulous walks nearby such as Offa’s Dyke and The Mortimer Forest, along with a good choice of stately homes and gardens to explore.

Very pretty cottage in nice village, however on arrival we had to empty the dishwasher from previous guests, and found some pans in the cupboards and utensils were covered in grease and had to be re washed. We found the downstairs of the cottage, cold and damp overnight, and to override the heating controls was not straightforward. The road outside the cottage was constantly busy with heavy traffic, and although out of your control, there was a crying child in the next property night and day. Consequently we had disturbed sleep. To sum up, lovely countryside, beautiful villages to visit and nice pubs and restaurants

Cobbler’s Cottage had everything we wanted including an excellent welcome package. There is some heavy traffic during the day but otherwise everything was perfect. This was our second stay at Cobblers.

Beautifully equipped and lovely location. A little tricky for the less mobile.
